This is not what I would consider a ‘top end’ property so expectations should be managed appropriately. It is a quirky, well-located property with a surprising amount of space in comparison to similar properties we have rented previously. It had everything one would need for a successful holiday and was certainly comfortable for two of us; four would be fine, six could be a stretch. Overall the presentation and cleanliness of the place was below average with mouldy bread left in the bread bin, cobwebs in the bathroom and even used underwear down the side of the drawers in the second bedroom! My biggest gripe was that the radiator in the sitting room was not only not working but, judging by the scorching on the plug, had a significant fault - this should have been isolated as a safety issue. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but the cottage lacks finesse.

Unfortunately this cottage is in need of basic maintenance and a thorough clean. The drawer front was so poorly fixed that it was not possible to open the drawer using the handle. The light over the dining table hung precariously from the ceiling by the electric cable. The bath didn't drain completely. The bathroom cold tap made a lot of noise when used. There were stains on the cushions and carpets. Chipped bowls and plates. Minimal notes on how to operate equipment. Fire grate and ash box had not been cleaned out. Poor lighting over the cooking and preparation area. No bin liners in bathroom bin. Hand soap in bathroom had been diluted to the point it was almost water. This place could be a real gem, but it needs attention to detail and basic cleaning.
