We turned up at Bamburgh house and were totally disgusted at the state of the cottage. The cottage had not been cleaned for quite a while and we spent quite a bit of money and time cleaning the place from top to bottom. We did however complain to the owner who was brilliant with text messages. Sent someone over to cut the grass and agreed with the photos that the standard was just not up to what was expected. As well as being filthy there were some dangers especially as we had children. Wardrobes were unstable, floor trims weren’t secured down properly and a trip hazard the mirrors and other fixtures weren’t secure properly and not safe. The owner said he would come back to us with compensation but never did and has now not engaged despite a few promises. This is really disappointing as the location is fantastic, just off the A1 and a great hub for exploring the north east. It has put me off booking a cottage for next year as we just weren’t compensated for the cleaning materials we had to buy and the full day that we spent cleaning. Our only family holiday of the year and it has left a really bitter taste in my mouth.

Perfect location. Plenty of rooms to relax in. Kitchen with all amenities including washing machine and dishwasher. Fridge and separate freezer the latter needed updating. Piano and playroom with Lego children’s books and toys. Two lounges with tv’s and two dining areas, two bathrooms with showers which should be fixed onto wall. Bathtub very slippy could do with a non slip mat in. Cleanliness could be better. We loved the space and location and the fact that it accommodated 12 of us. Had a lovely holiday visiting Alnwick Castle, Seahouses, Bamborough Castle and Holy Island all within 20to 30 minutes away.

The cottage was really spacious and had all the amenities you needed. 2 large lounges, 6 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and an extra toilet downstairs. Plenty of outdoor seating in a secure area. More than enough room for a large parry. Beautiful views with cows as neighbours. Easy to check in and out. The only things that let it down was it wasn't very clean, a few repairs needed and the smoke and carbon monoxide sensors were out of battery.
