Carmel is a spacious and comfortable cottage in Chathill, highly praised for its unbeatable location just moments from the beach and close to local amenities. Guests consistently enjoy the peaceful setting, well-equipped interiors, and easy access to scenic walks and restaurants. While the property is generally clean and cosy, some guests noted areas needing a deeper clean and minor maintenance. Facilities are good, though a few appliances and amenities could be updated or better stocked. Overall, Carmel offers a delightful seaside retreat, ideal for families and beach lovers.
Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy on arrival, with accessible surfaces and living areas well maintained. However, several reviews mention the need for a deeper clean in less accessible areas, such as high rafters and extractor fans, and some crockery and pans were found unwashed. These issues were not universal but noted by multiple guests.
The location is repeatedly described as outstanding, with the cottage just steps from the beach and close to local cafes, restaurants, and scenic walks. Guests loved the proximity to Beadnell Bay and the peaceful surroundings.
Guests found the cottage spacious, warm, and comfortable, with cosy living areas and good beds. A few minor comments were made about a firm mattress and the need for a spruce up, but overall comfort levels were high.
The cottage is well equipped with most essentials, including a well-stocked kitchen and outdoor furniture. Some guests noted issues with appliances (hob, dishwasher, floor lamp), missing items (umbrella, games, DVDs), and a need for more consumables (dishwasher tablets, bin bags). Facilities are good but could benefit from updates and clearer information.
Some guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as festive decorations and a basic welcome tray, but these are not guaranteed. Several reviews noted a lack of extra amenities like books, games, or more generous welcome packs, and suggested these would enhance the experience.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay - 5 minute walk from the beach.Beautifully decorated accommodation with a huge amount of space. The king size bed was a little too firm for me, but that is nit-picking!

A truly great location, just a stone’s throw from one of Northumberland’s best beaches. The cottage is clean, comfortable and modern with enough to make your stay a nice one. The accommodation is in a quiet group of holiday lets with tennis courts close by. If anything could be improved it is the little things - there weren’t any spare washing tablets, bin-bags, condiments and toilet roll so you’ll need to take your own. The appliances are ok but not brilliant. The welcome booklet is out of date so wi-fi codes and cottage inventory are not up to date (no games/dvds/missing plate, wine glasses). The outdoor store was useful for all the beach equipment. Would we go there again? Definitely. We really enjoyed it- these are small niggles and Just a few more little touches would make it a perfect 5 star retreat.

We enjoyed our stay. It was good value, although price has gone up a lot for next year. The guest information folder needs updating as it mentions board games, books, dvds and tourist information- there’s none of those, there’s not a DVD player either anyway. I think it could do with some books/games/jigsaws, as well as a radio or music system. Welcome items is just like a hospitality tray in a hotel - sachets of milk, tea bags etc, no wine, bread, fresh milk and so on. We’ve stayed on this estate twice before and my parents also stay here so we’ve been in a few of the properties. The internet was okay. Shower and bath both good. Outdoor furniture nice. All appliances were excellent. I love the mirrors, the furnishings, sofas, the beds and so on. Loads of crockery and cutlery. It’d be great if there were some travel mugs so you could take a coffee or tea down the beach, as it is that close! Also needs a bin in the toilet for sanitary ware. There’s no laundry tabs so if you like to do your washing whilst away then pack your own. Mum’s property had some so we used theirs as we were going straight on to Yorkshire for a week after here. I would definitely recommend to others.
