We loved our stay at Doxford Dairy. As a family, we have had a tough time recently; our sweet time at the cottage helped us to relax and restore. The tranquillity alone did the trick, but so did the comfort of the lovely beds, the cosy sitting room and the fact that the whole place was spectacularly clean. The birds, the swans on the lake, the excellent games field and games roomare added bonuses; we didn't bring kids along but will do at some point. Just a couple of niggles: the outside patio seriously needs some attention. It’s a little scary, especially at night, and it looks a bit neglected, with an abundance of weeds everywhere. And the kitchen (which works really well) looks a bit tired and could use a quick paint. Neither thing spoiled our stay; these bits would transform the place into a full-on 5-star experience. We will be back.

This is a beautiful holiday home, and dog friendly. I would have given 5 for Comfort and Equipment but 2 things need to be looked at. 1) The patio area where the slabs are very uneven and wobbly with wide spaces between - not very safe for older people or dogs paws and 2) A very noisy strange plumbing/drainage system which wakens everyone several times during the night even when no one has used the toilet. But, it is a wonderful place, with well decorated rooms, super kitchen filled with utensils, very comfy beds and a feeling of serenity. The Games Rooms & play areas are great for kids and safe. Easy access to beautiful beaches, coastal and inland towns and fab eating places. Pam the Manager is excellent and speedily resolves any issues. This is our second time & we would hope to return. When we went a few years ago the booking was made directly and was much better than having to book through Cottages.com. Information, directions etc were much better then. If this had been the first time staying at Doxford Dairy I would not have been impressed by info from Cottages.com.
