Dating back to 1782, Blue House is a stone-built, double-fronted property which simply oozes charm and character. With so much thought, care and attention to the finer details the standard of accommodation is sublime. With many original features still intact it offers a wonderful blend of old and new. The spacious living room focuses upon a cosy wood burner set in a large inglenook fireplace; a restful place to rest and watch the flames dance after a day exploring the spectacular Northumbrian countryside that surrounds Blue House. We found the Blue House to be extremely well equipped, very comfortable, and clean, and everything about it was of a very high standard. The villagers we met made us feel very welcome. The pub and its associated cafe are obviously the central focus of the village as they were very popular, serving great food too. There is no local shop, but there are some in other villages a short drive away. The village is beautiful and within easy reach of many local attractions. We had a very relaxing holiday, and would be more than happy to revisit the cottage and the area again.

We had a great time, the house was very spacious and the village was very quiet. We had a meal in the pub which was nice and the bar staff were very friendly. The house was a great place to stay, it was clean and the when we had an issue the owner sorted it straight away. If you’re looking for a lovely place to stay in the area then I would definitely recommend it.
