About this property

1 Cleator Gate is an impressive, three-storey, end-terrace house resting in the heart of Cleator, Cumbria. The perfect getaway for a family get-together, this home-from-home accommodates up to 17 people in its stylish lodging. On-street parking greets you on arrival, before making your way inside to be welcomed by the charming interiors of this large property. The sitting room can be found close by and is an ideal space to unwind in, thanks to its plush sofas resting in front of the Smart TV; pass through the charming room to find a pool table, where you can further entertain yourselves with a family tournament.

After relaxing for a while, progress to the large and impeccable kitchen/diner, where exposed beams and wooden finishes nicely complement the contemporary, grey fittings, where an array of useful appliances await the group's designated chef, including a spacious fridge/freezer. When dinner is ready, gather around one of the dining tables, one a two-seater and the other a six-seater, and tuck into a delectable meal together whilst the woodburning stove warms your toes and the TV plays in the background. As the day draws to a close, choose between one of the nine gorgeously furnished bedrooms to enjoy a well-deserved rest in, with the first of these situated on the ground floor and comprising a double bed and enjoying access to a nearby cloakroom.

Progress upstairs to find three more wonderful bedrooms, a spacious double with a sitting area and four-poster bed, along with two lovely twins. The first floor also hosts two superb bathrooms, with one enjoying a freestanding bath, and the other boasting a walk-in shower and a jacuzzi bath; you're spoilt for choice! Continue to the second floor, where five fabulous bedrooms rest, including a double enjoying an en-suite shower room, perfect for couples wanting a little privacy, as well as two more double bedrooms, a twin and a single. Concluding the property's interior is the contemporary, second-floor shower room. Outside, you'll be pleased to find an enclosed yard, where you can savour a cup of steaming, morning coffee before wandering out to explore this part of Cumbria.

Cleator is a lovely village, where The Brook Inn serves up delicious meals for when you don't feel like cooking, as well as a convenience store and access to the gorgeous Longlands Lake; an ideal spot for walkers and nature enthusiasts alike. Spend the day in Egremont, where the ruins of Egremont Castle, performances at Florence Arts Centre and the pretty park of Gillfoot await. For a day at the seaside, travel to St Bees, a village offering an esteemed golf course, as well as a stunning beach enjoying access to the Coast to Coast Walk, which you can follow along the St Bees Head Heritage Coast, where a plethora of dramatic scenery awaits.

Continue along the coast to spend some time in Whitehaven, or travel a short distance into the Lake District National Park, where a wealth of fells, lakes and picturesque towns can be found. An amazing stay for all the family awaits at 1 Cleator Gate.

The only improvement we noticed was that it would have been good to have a few more large pans to cook for everyone.

Listing of this property in Sykes is completely incorrect. Photographs provided in this listing is not what you would see in reality. * Living room sofa was filthy, the fabric is all stained and NOT cleaned for ages. Didn't feel like sitting on them. * Dining chairs in Living room were all stained and not cleaned. Couple of them were broken and shaky. Not sure why the owners thought anybody can use them. * One Bathroom was completely not operational. With our group of 14 people, not having this bathroom functional was very very inconvenient. * Bathroom flush handle had 'poo' stain and it was not cleaned. this was disgusting. * Floor boards were creaking and gaps were found at places. * Heating is not properly planned and not very effective * There is a curfew in this property, which is NOT listed in Sykes. We were not allowed to use or sit in kitchen after 10:00 pm. if we would have known about these restriction, we wouldn't have gone anywhere near this property. * There is restriction to use Jacuzzi after 10:00 pm. * There is NO outdoor garden. This property is better suited for Bed and breakfast and NOT for holiday home. This property in our opinon is not be listed as 'Holiday Home' We raised all these complains again Sykes and holiday home owner. Owner was kind enough to attend and send in cleaners the next day, however all main issues were not addressed. Sykes were able to get us a part refund for this property booking, however, i will NOT recommend this property for holiday.
