32 Friar Row is a lovely, blue-painted cottage settled into the town of Caldbeck. With a local shop and pub, and access to the stunning walks of the Lake District National Park, this property is ideal for a family or friends looking to explore Cumbria. Be welcomed into a light and airy open-plan living area with contemporary green décor and stylish furniture. Here you will find a well-equipped kitchen with plenty of home-from-home amenities to assist you when cooking up a storm. Enjoy a hearty meal at the dining table, before cosying up beside the woodburning stove to enjoy a film night. In the garden there is a table and chairs which allows you to dine alfresco when the sun is shining. The bedrooms include a double and a twin, both with storage for your belongings, and serviced by a sleek shower room. Caldbeck is a countryside village offering a convenience store for all of your essentials, as well as a local pub, The Oddfellows Arms Caldbeck. Nestled onto the edges of the Lake District National Park, this property has excellent access to many walks, watersports facilities, wild swimming options, and birdwatching opportunities. Walks include those at Scafell Pike, Skiddaw, Blencathra, and Whitewater Dash. Head over to the Bassenthwaite Lake National Nature Reserve, where you can try out watersports, and visit the local attractions, including the lovely Mirehouse & Gardens, and the Lake District Wildlife Park. More attractions include Dubwath Silver Meadows Nature Reserve The property is also within reach of the North Pennines AONB and the Solway Coast AONB. The charming Cumbrian village of Caldbeck is situated on the northern fringes of the Lake District National Park and is surrounded by beautiful moorland and fells. It’s a classic stone built village with a church, pub, village green and duck pond. The church dates back to the 12th century and is famous for being the resting place of the renowned huntsman John Peel. Although in every sense a ‘traditional working village’, the local craft centre at Priest Mill and the riverside walks to the Howk gorge, draw visitors to Caldbeck. The village is an ideal base for the northern Lakes, the market town of Keswick, as well as Lakes Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite. The natural beauty of the Solway coast, well-known for its golf courses and the town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth are close by, whilst also within driving distance is the cathedral city of Carlisle, Hadrian’s Wall and the Scottish Borders.

    This cottage was gorgeous, great condition + really homely! Great for dog owners, our pups loved there stay too. Such a convenient location for some of the best walks across the Lakes. The local pub had a great menu, all the locals were extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations. We cannot wait to return, only thing that would’ve made out stay even better would’ve been a hot tub :)

    What a lovely cottage it is well equipped with everything we needed for our stay, The welcome gifts of tea, coffee, milk and wine were much appreciated. Great base to explore from. We were blessed with lovely weather as well. The pub is definitely worth going very dog friendly and the food was excellent. Will definitely book again in the future
