Couples and family bookings only.. This truly magnificent famhouse is perched on the edge of the beautiful Manifold Valley, famed for its lime-stone crags and caves. Approached by a farm drive, nestling in a secluded spot, it enjoys breathtaking valley views. Very well furnished and equipped, its history is impressive - its date-stone pin-points the farmhouse’s origin at 1810, however, field name documents reach as far back as the 13th century. Set on the edge of the owners’ working farm, cows and calves herd themselves across over one hundred acres of farmland, with an abundance of wildlife and walks from the doorstep.
At Wetton Mill in the Manifold Valley amidst some staggering scenery, a cycle trail, closed to traffic for most of its route, follows the line of a narrow-gauge railway, (which ran from the turn of the century until the 1930s) and a river for some seven miles - even passing through the old railway tunnel. Cycle hire is available locally. Ideal for exploring Staffordshire and Derbyshire, Ashbourne, Buxton, Bakewell, Dovedale, Carsington Water, The Potteries and Alton Towers are all within a 25-minute drive. Butterton 1 mile. Butchers 1 mile. Shop 7 miles.

Excellent stay. Host provided all assistance. We enjoyed the hot tub. Good walks from the farm. Local village pub the best we visited for a long time. Ample car parking. Can not pick any faults highly recommend this farm, we had a party of 12 for the week end plenty of room.

We had a group of us including children visit Monday to Friday, the cottage and surrounding areas were absolutely beautiful. The cottage itself is a lovely size for a large group and one of the highlights was the ingle nook which my 12 year old spent most of her time next to the fireplace. It’s a lovely place to go to relax and spend time with family, we spent most nights playing board games and relaxing by the fire place. Our kids loved animals and a herd of cows would frequently visit us. Unfortunately the hot tub was out of order when we came so cannot comment on the hot tub which was a bit disappointing as we looked forward to it but understand things like that can’t be helped. Marjorie was prompt in messaging back if we had any questions though. Local area wise we used the shops in leek which was around 20 minutes drive, we went to Thors cave which is easy enough to park and walk and then the local tea room which was lovely. We spent a whole day at the peak wildlife park which everyone enjoyed. All in all we would definitely come back here again and it’s only been a day since we have left and I miss it so much already. WiFi only works in one side of the house (lounge and first two bedrooms at the top of the stairs) and no phone signal until you reach the top of the road. Although this didn’t matter too much for us it’s more of a heads up

Great stay for family, surroundings are beautiful, very peaceful. Nice friendly pub in the village but be sure to book if planning to eat!
