An ideal location to explore this historic market town and all that the South Downs and West Sussex has to offer. Set over three storeys the lower level has a large open plan living/dining/kitchen area. The living area features deep comfortable sofas, a roaring open fire and a large Smart TV with Netflix, perfect for cosy nights in with friends and family. A door leads out to the pretty enclosed garden to the rear of the house, with a patio, barbecue and lawn perfect for children and dogs. The smart kitchen area is fully equipped with double oven, dishwasher and washer/dryer, the large table seats six for a get together over home-cooked food and a glass of something delicious from the wine store in town. There is also a small separate toilet on this level. On the ground floor there is a small second living room/study with Smart TV, a serene space to enjoy some quiet reading time or close the door and catch up with work. Next to the study is a twin bedroom with en-suite walk-in rainhead shower. On the first floor the master bedroom has kingsize bed, Smart TV and another en-suite with walk-in shower. From the window you can glimpse the majestic Arundel Cathedral that sits atop the hill and watch the horses and ponies frolic in the paddocks of the riding centre just behind the garden. To the front of the house there is a double bedroom with a lovely bathroom with double-end bath just begging to be filled with bubbles for a long soak after a hike in the Downs.
A gentle 5-minute stroll will bring you right into the centre of Arundel a historic market town whose skyline is dominated by the symbolic castle and the rising spire of the cathedral. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tearooms. It is a great place to wander and simply enjoy great hospitality. Arundel Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. It is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art in stunning rooms. Climbing the 131 steps to the Keep which dates from the 11th century to take in the views over Arundel and The South Downs is definitely worth the effort. Beyond the castle grounds Arundel Park Site of Special Scientific Interest extends north towards the Downs offering many fine walks. The River Arun winds its way around the town and is a magnet for wildlife. With more than 60 acres of ponds lakes and reed beds Arundel Wildfowl Wetlands Trust attracts some of the world’s most spectacular ducks geese and swans. The best way to enjoy the river is on a river cruise stopping off at the serene pub or proceeding further north where the river hugs the scarp wooded slope at the foot of the Downs before reaching Amberley. Further afield Arundel is well placed for the coast. Climping Beach and Littlehampton’s West Beach are only a short drive away heading south directly from The River House. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
