In recent years, Newlyn has become one of West Cornwall’s most sought-after holiday destinations. True to its fishing port roots, the town feels authentically Cornish - blending the energy of a working harbour with a cool and creative edge. Wide sea views and fishing boats form the backdrop for independent shops, art galleries and restaurants, with the coast path connecting it to Penzance and Mousehole (both less than a mile away).
An original dwelling set right across from the harbour, this home embodies what makes holidays in Newlyn so special. The cottage has undergone a contemporary transformation, featuring an open-plan design on its ground floor. Here, the living room with its large comfortable sofas and Smart TV creates a stylish space for relaxation and entertainment. The space is shared with the home’s kitchen and dining area, offering guests all they need for preparing and sharing home-cooked meals.
Number 80 has three comfortable bedrooms with pared-back styling. A unique twin room with its sprung sleeping platform, inspired by Japanese culture, is located on the ground floor, and two double bedrooms, including an en-suite master bedroom with stunning sea views, are upstairs.
Additionally, there’s a snug with board games, TV and a sofa, as well as a family shower room and separate cloakroom.
The cottage’s location is second to none, with several terrific restaurants nearby. The popular Fishermans Arms is right next door, offering a delicious menu of locally sourced dishes, while the Tolcarne Inn is a 10-ish minute walk from the front door. The seasonal Argoe in the harbour serves the freshest of fish caught and landed right alongside and is a 5-minute stroll.
Within a short drive are many of Cornwall’s best attractions, including Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens and the Scillonian Ferry in Penzance. Marazion and its iconic St Michael's Mount are a few minutes further along the coast, where a large sandy beach is the perfect spot for sunbathing and water sports. The charming village of Mousehole is a mile away, while Porthcurno with the Minnack Theatre and Pedn Vounder Beach are less than 35 minutes’ drive.

This cottage is a period dwelling and as such has a quirky feature. The floors in some of the bedrooms slope slightly from when they were was used to dry boat sails for the pilchard industry

This Japanese-inspired room includes twin mattresses on top of a sleeping platform constructed with authentic Japanese tatami mats. Tatami mats are traditionally made with a compressed rice straw core and a woven soft rush grass surface. These natural materials create a firm and breathable surface that helps regulate indoor humidity by absorbing and releasing moisture. Tatami mats are also naturally fragrant and contribute to a clean, minimalist interior aesthetic
