Guests say

Rose Villa in Newlyn, Cornwall, is a well-received holiday cottage with guests praising its cleanliness, stunning harbour views, and comfortable furnishings. The property's location is ideal for exploring the area, and many guests have enjoyed the thoughtful touches such as fresh flowers and biscuits on arrival. While some minor maintenance issues and cleanliness lapses were mentioned, the overall sentiment is highly positive, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found Rose Villa to be clean and tidy, with several reviews highlighting the property's spotlessness upon arrival. However, a few guests reported issues with cleanliness, including a dirty house on arrival and dust under furniture, which slightly lowers the overall score.

The location of Rose Villa is frequently praised for its amazing views and proximity to local amenities, making it an ideal base for exploring Cornwall. The short walk to Newlyn and the convenience of nearby attractions contribute to a high score in this category.

Guests consistently describe the cottage as comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy atmosphere and comfortable beds. The property's warmth and homeliness contribute to a high comfort rating, although some guests noted issues with soft pillows and a desire for lighter duvets during warmer weather.

The facilities at Rose Villa are generally well-regarded, with guests appreciating the well-equipped kitchen and secure garden. However, there are comments about the need for additional kitchen equipment and minor maintenance issues such as a broken toilet seat and a leaking ceiling, which affect the score.

While guests have mentioned thoughtful gestures such as fresh flowers, biscuits, and teabags, there are not enough references to consistently provided gifts to accurately score this category. Therefore, the score is set to null, and guests should note that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

About this property

Beautiful sea views can be admired from this spacious house which provides excellent accommodation in the heart of the quaint fishing port of Newlyn, Cornwall. With its pretty harbour and village amenities, this house is ideal for a family holiday. Wake to the lovely seascape views from two of the upstairs bedrooms with the master benefiting from an en-suite shower room. Step into the split-level open plan living and dining area and you will find comfort and charm with a feature stone wall and wood burning stove to warm you on those winter breaks. Here you can open the French windows onto the enclosed patio, perfect for al fresco dining. The drawing room is ideal for escaping to with a good book which also doubles up as an extra bedroom and you will find everything you require to rustle up your favourite meals in the attractively fitted kitchen. Newlyn is filled with quaint streets and cobbled courtyards with plenty of traditional inns and restaurants where you can sample local produce. A visit to the neighbouring town of Penzance will provide plenty of activities or take a drive to Marazion for a stretch of golden beach. St Michaels Mount with its 12th Century fortress is within easy driving distance where you have the chance to walk across the causeway at low tide or hop on a ferry. A fabulous house, in a beautiful location, ensuring a wonderful holiday.

Nestled next to Penzance, and although still a quaint village in its own right, Newlyn is actually the third largest fishing port in England, and an important Port of Refuge for all sea baring craft. It is unusual in that visitors can still watch the landing and auctioning of fish at the market, as many families have for centuries before. T

Usually cosy is code for small, but actually the heating was on and the whole place felt so inviting. We didn't use the second sitting room because the open plan area was sufficient. The cottage was well equipped, beds were soooo comfy and wow.....the cleanest oven I've ever seen in a holiday let! I spent many hours at night laying in bed just watching out to sea, the upper balcony is a real addition and we did sit and read up there. There's very little external noise in this cottage which we are very likely to book again. We had a peaceful relaxing stay, it's easy to see why people return time again. A great base to explore from but equally if you stay local there's plenty of great places to eat or spend the evening chatting. The garden was perfectly secure for our 2 shihtzu's who love playing 'escape' and in fact they settled as quickly as we did. The parking space was a huge help. Few small issues....lamps in the main bedroom are closed to needing repair or replacing. The sofa cushions are looking 'end of holiday season' and are looking like a steam clean might pep them up a bit.
