About this property

Braunton Farmhouse is a fantastic holiday home surrounded by fields and close to the beaches of Devon. You can walk or cycle the two miles to Braunton's pubs, shops and cafes if you do not want to drive, and fantastic beaches like Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay and Woolacombe are nearby. This part of North Devon is protected as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and with favourite attractions such as the Tarka Trail, South West Coast Path, Exmoor Zoo, Watermouth Castle and the Combe Martin Dinosaur and Wildlife Park only a short drive away, there is no shortage of fun to be had! Surrounded by fields and with space for ten guests in five bedrooms, you can easily imagine the Famous Five having adventures somewhere just like this dog-friendly farmhouse.

Braunton Farmhouse has space for ten guests in five bedrooms, giving you an ideal venue for your Devon holiday. There is room for everyone, even the dog, and the location just outside of Braunton in the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is perfect, as it affords space and privacy while still being very close to Devon’s stunning coast with incredible beaches and attractions.

Braunton is a natural wonder, with an impressive dune system and three glorious beaches all nearby. The closest is Saunton Sands, which stretches for three golden miles between the ocean and Braunton Burrows. The west facing shoreline makes it a wonderful place to watch the sunset at the end of a day full of fun and adventure. Croyde Bay is smaller and more sheltered and is very popular with surfers who come from around the world to enjoy its consistent breaks, or spend the day at Woolacombe. All of these beaches are within 10-15 minutes of the farmhouse.

Crow Point is another sandy beach, this time at the junction of the River Taw and the sea and accessed by driving through Braunton Marsh. Despite its raw beauty, the marsh is not natural, having been created in the 1800s by the building of sandbanks to reclaim the area from the sea. It is a haven for wildlife, birds and insects so take your binoculars with you when you go for a walk, as there is always something beautiful to observe.

One of the most enjoyable ways to enjoy Devon is by bicycle. The Tarka Trail passes through Braunton, providing a traffic-free route for both walkers and cyclists. It traverses 163 miles through spectacular countryside and along the coastline, taking in places like Lynmouth, Bideford and Ilfracombe. In some areas, it links with the South West Coast Path, the Dartmoor Way and the Two Moors Way, showing that the journey can be as enjoyable as the destination.

Braunton is a lively village with a thriving community that is hospitable and welcoming to visitors. There is a good variety of places to buy food for self-catering, including an excellent delicatessen selling locally produced items, as well as pubs and cafes where you can eat and drink when you do not feel like cooking. The long-standing UK surf company, Tiki, is based in Braunton, and it is possible to hire both surfing equipment and bicycles from several places nearby.

Golf at the prestigious Saunton Golf Club, horse-riding and fishing are just three more ways you can enjoy these fantastic surroundings. You can also visit Exmoor Zoo or the Combe Martin Dinosaur and Wildlife Park, enjoy the rides at Watermouth Castle, or feed the lambs at The Big Sheep. Arlington Court and the Broomhill Sculpture Gardens offer a wealth of beauty and a peaceful few hours strolling through lovely gardens.

Braunton Farmhouse is relaxed and welcoming. It is the sort of place where you, your kids and dogs can feel comfortable and relaxed, yet stylish enough to feel that your stay is a special treat. It is great for summer holidays with friends and Christmas with all the family, giving you the space you need to create fantastic memories.

Accommodation Comprises:

Braunton Farmhouse is a traditional Devon farmhouse with a layout that suits large groups. It has been carefully updated to provide comfortable accommodation for contemporary guests while retaining the charm and character that is typical of a property of its age. The interiors are elegantly relaxed, and the owners have taken care to ensure guests have everything they need for a comfortable stay.

Downstairs:

  • The living room is spacious enough for everyone to sit comfortably with three large sofas and plush floor cushions. There is a large window that overlooks the patio and garden, and the stylish colour scheme of white and soft duck-egg blue adds to the relaxed atmosphere. The large television with DVD player is perfect for family film nights.
  • Just because you are on holiday together does not mean you want to live in each other's pockets. The Snug is a smaller, more intimate living room where you can read or chat quietly, away from the hubbub of the larger living spaces. As well as a deep sofa and armchair, there is another television with DVD player.
  • Although there is a smaller dining table in the kitchen, the formal dining room comfortably seats ten people. Double aspect windows overlook the garden and flood the room with natural light, so it is a lovely room to eat in at any time of year whether you are enjoying a relaxed brunch or a celebratory dinner.
  • As with any farmhouse, the kitchen is the hub of the home and very well equipped to easily cater for up to ten people. There is a large fridge with a separate freezer, and lots of cupboard space for all your groceries. The microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker all add to the convenience.
  • A separate storage cupboard houses things like the vacuum cleaner and ironing board, and the kitchen has a washing machine and tumble drier.
  • There are two family bathrooms downstairs. The first has a walk in shower with a WC and handbasin, while the second has a bath with shower above, handbasin and WC.
  • Upstairs:

  • There are five bedrooms upstairs in Braunton Farmhouse: three twin rooms with full sized single beds, and two spacious doubles, one with a super king-sized bed and the other with a standard double bed. All the rooms benefit from large windows and fantastic views, and each is decorated in a way that makes it appropriate either for children or adults.
  • There is a third bathroom upstairs, with a bath, WC, heated towel rail and a handbasin.
  • Outside: The garden is another fantastic feature of Braunton Farmhouse. It is large and private, with grassy areas that are ideal for ball games and sunny areas with garden furniture where you can sit quietly and enjoy the views. A paved patio with parasol and barbecue allows guests to make the most of long summer evenings. There is off-road parking for several cars, as well as storage space for bicycles, surfboards and other sporting equipment.

Additional Information: The property has WiFi and central heating throughout. All utilities, linen and bath towels are included, with guests requested to bring their own beach towels and dog towels. Short breaks are possible outside of school holidays, depending on availability. Braunton Farmhouse is a non-smoking property.
