Guests say

Fiddlers Green is a well-received cottage in Shropshire, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped nature. Guests appreciate the peaceful location, charming garden, and the property's proximity to local attractions and countryside. The cottage's vintage charm and modern conveniences provide a cosy retreat, despite a few mentions of missing amenities and one-off concerns.

The property consistently receives high praise for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting it as spotless and well-maintained. One isolated complaint about a disinfectant smell and minor cleaning oversights does not significantly impact the overall excellent perception.

The cottage's location is frequently commended for its tranquillity and beauty, with easy access to local walks and attractions. The village's friendliness and proximity to pubs and shops contribute to the positive feedback, although no specific negative comments about the location are provided.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, highlighting the cosy atmosphere and the garden as places to relax. The property's warmth and welcoming nature are mentioned, with only minor suggestions for improvements such as the addition of a dishwasher.

The cottage is generally well-equipped, with a particularly well-stocked kitchen. However, some guests noted the absence of a dishwasher and modern TV channels. The presence of an electric piano and good Wi-Fi are positives, but the lack of certain modern conveniences slightly lowers the score.

While the reviews reflect a positive experience, there is no specific mention of gifts or extra thoughtful touches provided by the host. Therefore, it is not possible to assess this category accurately, and the score is set to null.

About this property

A pretty, traditionally-styled cottage, slightly elevated above the popular village of Bucknell, Shropshire. The cottage is a perfect base for friends and family looking to make the most of the breathtaking countryside of the Shropshire Hills which is peppered with picture-postcard villages. This lovely cottage has comfortable ground floor accommodation with three cosy bedrooms and a family bathroom with shower over. There is a light and airy kitchen leading off a traditional dining room. There is also a separate sitting room, ideal for relaxing after a long day exploring the fantastic undulating countryside and surrounding Welsh Marches, with an open fire and access out onto the spacious gardens. Outside, you can sit in the traditional cottage garden, with raised terraced sitting area, a large lawn provides the perfect venue to run off any last energies you may have with a ball game, and it slopes into a more natural orchard area, an idyllic setting to enjoy the last few rays of sun with a glass of something cool. The property is in the valley of the meandering River Teme and is adjacent to the Shropshire Hills, a truly magnificent landscape with rolling hills, wooded river valleys and some quaint and alluring little villages and towns such as Clun, Bishop's Castle, Church Stretton and Much Wenlock. Nearby is Knighton, a pretty market town sitting on the Offa's Dyke, a perfect base to start your exploration of the fabulous walks and cycle routes. Alternatively, why not go and taste some of the delights of local producers in the medieval market town of Ludlow, considered to be one of the most attractive towns in England? The area offers numerous outdoor activities including fishing, cycle trails and mountain bike routes, horse riding or golf, with multiple walks stretching away from the village, so you really can walk from the door. Why not try a higher octane activity with the silent thrill of gliding or perhaps a day out in a nearby rally school? If you like visiting historic properties, Stokesay Castle, a fine example of a medieval fortified manor house, owned by English Heritage, is a twenty minute drive. Slightly further afield, take a trip to one of two National Trust properties both within a half hour drive. Berrington Hall is a striking neo-classical manor house, with beautiful landscaped gardens and parkland or Croft Castle with its regal veteran trees in its beautiful park and woodland. A perfect base in a popular village, a short walk from the local village pubs, on the edge of the Shropshire Hills in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The pretty village of Bucknell nestles in the beautiful valley of the River Teme in South Shropshire, close to the borders of Wales and Herefordshire. This is a lovely area of peaceful unspoilt countryside, but still offering much interest for the visitor - the historic market town of Ludlow renowned for its superb restaurants, Ironbridge with its famous museums, and the county town of Shrewsbury are all within easy driving distance.

Lots of space in the cottage, nice light & airy with a great view out of the window, nice and easy to find, some updating needed to the cottage otherwise it was clean & tidy

  • Kimble

A comfortable and quiet place to stay with a cosy, well - loved family feel to it. Within a few minutes walk, the village has a garage with a small shop plus a station on the rural line from Shrewsbury to Swansea. A few days at fiddlers green is a welcome escape to a slower, more traditional way of country life.
