Ideal for a family gathering or group getaway, it offers a scenic base for walking, cycling and exploring two countries from one location. The property is situated in the village of Westbury, around 8 miles west of Shrewsbury, which has lots to discover, including a red sandstone castle and medieval abbey. It’s also home to The Quarry, a beautiful riverside park perfect for a picnic or stroll beside the River Severn. Elsewhere, nature lovers can learn about owls, falcons and other fascinating creatures at the Battlefield Bird of Prey Centre (15 miles). Across the Welsh border, Powis Castle and Garden (15.5 miles) is a magnificent place to explore on a fine day, with its spectacular Italianate terraces and giant clipped yew hedges.
The property is accessed via an external flight of steps and is arranged across the first and second floors of the building, with low ceiling beams and restricted head height in places. Upon entering, you’ll step into a spacious open-plan living area combining the kitchen, dining and lounge spaces. The kitchen is equipped with all the essentials needed for getting creative with fresh ingredients, while an island-style dining table seats up to eight guests. After your holiday meals, settle down on the large corner sofa in the lounge to watch a family film on the Smart TV before sleep beckons. All bedrooms feature en-suite facilities. The property offers two king-size bedrooms and one further bedroom featuring a double bed and a twin sleeping arrangement, sleeping up to eight guests. One of the king-size bedrooms features a striking circular window and an en-suite bathroom with bath, shower and WC, while another enjoys access to the balcony and its own en-suite bathroom. A steep staircase leads up to the second-floor snug, tucked away in the eaves beneath a sloping ceiling. This cosy space offers a quiet corner to read, relax or enjoy the view from the circular window.
Outside, the furnished balcony provides a fantastic space for al fresco dining and enjoying the views. It’s also where you can enjoy a soak in the bubbling hot tub to soothe tired muscles after long walks in the Shropshire countryside. Private off-road parking is available for three cars. For an added touch during your stay, the on-site bar can be opened on request and is generally available to guests upon demand.
