Guests say

Aurora is a well-received holiday cottage in Whitby, consistently praised for its cleanliness, spaciousness, and modern amenities. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, ample parking, and the property's proximity to town, with a pleasant riverside walk. The thoughtful touches and welcome pack are noted, though not guaranteed for every stay. Some minor suggestions for improvement are made, but overall, guests are highly satisfied and often express a desire to return.

Reviewers unanimously commend the property for its immaculate condition, noting it as 'very clean', 'spotlessly clean', and 'pristine'. The high standard of cleanliness contributes significantly to the positive guest experience.

The location is frequently highlighted as a positive feature, with guests enjoying the short walk into Whitby town centre and the convenience of nearby attractions. The quiet area and the view of the river add to the appeal, although the absence of a corner shop within immediate walking distance is mentioned.

Comfort is a strong point for Aurora, with numerous mentions of comfortable beds, spacious rooms, and a cosy lounge. The presence of multiple toilets and a well-equipped kitchen enhance the comfort level, although some guests note the mattresses in certain rooms could be improved.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with modern bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and Sky stream TV. Parking is a noted bonus. However, some guests suggest improvements such as stair gates for children, outdoor seating enhancements, and the addition of shelves in bathrooms.

Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches like a welcome pack, although it is politely noted that such amenities are not guaranteed for every stay. The property's attention to detail in decor and provision of utilities like a wine fridge and washer/dryer is also well-received.

About this property

This contemporary townhouse sits in a great position, less than a mile from the beach, in the ever-popular town of Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Set over three floors with a patio, Aurora welcomes families for an immaculate stay, whatever time of year.

Upon arrival, leave your car behind in the off-road parking space and head through the front door into your new home-from-home.

On the ground-floor there is the first bedroom, complete with a double bed, serviced by a cloakroom, whilst there is also a handy utility room with washer/dryer.

Move up to the first floor, home to the well-equipped kitchen housing all the essentials for home-cooking, including an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher.

A long dining bench stands in the centre of the room, providing a great spot to enjoy family mealtimes before heading to the lounge and collapsing on the dark green velvet sofas.

There is also a bathroom on this level, where you can freshen up with a bath or shower over before going about your day. Continue to the second-floor to find the remaining bedrooms, offering a king-size with en-suite shower, and two single rooms each neutrally presented.

Head outside and spend a moment in the patio area, complete with furniture set for alfresco dining. Set out for the day and explore your local surroundings; head out to Whitby’s soft sands, visit the Whitby and Captain Cook Museum or sample local beers at Whitby Brewery.

Why not treat the group to a meal out at one of the well-established restaurants, followed by a live performance at the Whitby Pavilion, complemented with sea views? Wildlife enthusiasts should take the chance at whale watching, whilst those keen historians will appreciate a visit to the gothic Whitby Abbey.

There’s plenty to fill your holiday agenda whilst staying at Aurora.

Pleasant 15 mins walk to the bridge into town. Appreciated the teabags and goodies, thank you. A pint of milk would have been a welcome addition. Kitchen, bathrooms and furniture were clean and modern. The only negatives were a lack of shelf/cabinet in bathrooms. Nowhere to put toiletries. Also mattresses uncomfortable in ensuite room and twin room. Maybe time to replace.

We enjoy walking, so it was great not to have to bother using the car at all for most of our stay. We also enjoyed being able to see the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from the lounge window. One observation to mention: the A171 road crosses the River Esk at high level about 50 metres from the house. Prior to our arrival we had wondered if this would be intrusive. But we needn't have worried as we hardly noticed it at all, even outside of the property.
