This end cottage, 100 yards from the beach, enjoys an unrivalled position with magnificent views over the sea, harbour and beaches from both front and side windows and lies at the very eastern edge of Whitby, yet only a short walk, 300 yards, down cobbled streets to the harbour bridge. Captains Cottage is an award-winning holiday cottage and is the one retained by the developers partly for their own family use. Sensitively re-built from a former old smokehouse, the architect designed interiors are spacious and well-proportioned with double glazing, cosy efficient heating and an array of bathrooms/shower rooms. Parking for two cars and an outdoor seating area with picnic chairs are available (both almost unique in Whitby). The cottage is in an ideal position for both summer and winter holidays. Old maritime Whitby with all its history, the famous 199 steps, the abbey, restaurants, pubs and museums are all within a short stroll. Extensive walking including the Cleveland Way is available locally and even direct from the cottage.

Great cottage. The location is fantastic - less than a minute from two beaches and just up the road from the 199 steps and the quirky shops and restaurants of the East side. The views across the harbour to Sandsend are amazing. The two parking spaces make unloading/loading quick and easy. The cottage is well equipped, warm and cosy with endless piping hot water. Captains Cottage has been on our bucket list for years - we weren't disappointed.

Captains Cottage is absolutely beautiful in a prime location with beautiful views. We have been to Captains cottage for the past 7 years. It's all about location location, it has parking for 2 cars which is very rare in Whitby. The cottage is spacious and well kitted out it has everything you need it truly is a fantastic cottage.
