Guests say

Dale House is praised for its stunning location, spaciousness, and beautiful views, with wildlife sightings adding to its charm. The property is well-equipped and offers a tranquil haven close to local attractions and amenities. While some guests have concerns about maintenance and the lack of reliable internet, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

The property is generally described as clean and well-kept, with specific praise for its cleanliness. However, there are mentions of mould in the shower, a water stain on the ceiling, and cigarette butts on the patio, which slightly detract from the overall cleanliness.

The location is highly commended for its magnificent views and proximity to local attractions. Guests enjoyed the wildlife and the peaceful setting, making it a standout feature of their stay.

The accommodation is described as spacious and generally comfortable. However, some guests found the beds and pillows a bit firm, and there were issues with underfloor heating not working in some rooms, making them cold.

While the property is equipped to cater for guests, there are several maintenance issues noted, such as a leaking roof, non-functioning internet, and outdated chimney sweep certificates. These issues suggest that the facilities could be improved to enhance the guest experience.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score for this category.

Dale House is a fabulous property for 8 people. However, it is in need of some general maintenance. The roof leaked in two places, requiring bowls to catch the drips. The underfloor heating only works in a few rooms, so two bedrooms and the bathrooms are very cold. The Log Burner control information doesn’t seem to refer to the Log Burner there. Light bulbs haven’t been replaced in living area and the outside light near the front door doesn’t work, making entering and exiting after dark dangerous. The bathroom doors do not lock! The gas rings struggle to ignite and stay lit, intermittently. Lacks large pans for catering for 8 people. Curtains rails, door handles etc need some attention too. Many of these points could be so easily resolved and it’s such a shame that this beautiful property, in an idyllic setting, isn’t cared for better.

The location of Dale House is absolutely stunning, views are magnificent and we were lucky to see Deer in the grounds of the cottage and many birds including a Barn Owl. Unfortunately inside Dale Hose does disappoint, once inside those views might as well not exist apart from looking out the back door there are no useful windows, they are either very small vertical slot windows or above eye level. You need the internal lights on at all times, look at the windows in the pictures (something I didn't spot) and you will see what I mean. There is no functioning internet at this property, only once did we make a connection to the Skylink internet and that was at 10pm and it was gone again by morning. I called the management company to discuss this only to get a recorded message that the was no agent available to take my call, and was offered a call back when a agent became available, they never called back. It was just my wife and I staying at the cottage so we did not use the upstairs so these comments only apply to the downstairs of the property. The following are other items that need to be addressed : The Hot water is too hot and dangerous for children. The chimney sweep certificate is out of date so we didn't use the log burner. The chimney hearth is a trip hazard. There is no towel rail or useful shelves in the shower room. There is mould on the tile grout in the shower and a water stain on the ceiling. There is a plastic squeegee on a hook in the shower this is cracked and split plus it had hair on it from previous guests. The bedroom curtain does not adequately cover the window in the external door/window. There were cigarette butts on the external patio area. There is no explanation of the household waste / recycling procedure, two kitchen bins are provide both with black sacks but black sacks cannot be recycled. A better description of where the key safes are location could be provided. This is the longest review I have every left for a property and some of these points are minor and I understand the windows in the property are because it's a converted barn but it did effect our overall opinion of our stay at Dale House.
