The lay out of the house provided a fantastic backdrop for the children to explore and have fun. Loads of room. The garden was exceptionally beautiful and brilliant for all to enjoy. Circular walk just right for all. Surrounding area very peaceful and beautiful. Would book again.

It had everything we needed for a wonderful family holiday. The gardens were fabulous too. Highly recommended!!

Huge rooms, plenty of space, and lots of light. My (almost adult) children loved rushing round when we first got there having 7 bedrooms to choose from. We never even used one of the lounges. Everyone was impressed by the enormous oak (?) oval table in the dining room and it made me think of Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table - the table was old but not that old!! The grounds were beautiful even though - inevitably - squelchy in a wet February. The views from many of the windows were superb. I loved standing at the back door of the house in the dark and listening to the Esk rushing past. As the owner knows, one boiler serving such a large house is going to struggle when its cold, and for the first few days we were there, hot water didn't reach all the radiators in the large lounge or blue bedroom immediately above it. But the owners had provided space heaters so we were able to keep the house warm. After 3 to 4 days, the house really heated up and the space heaters became superfluous. The dishwasher wasn't brilliant. But on the plus side, the set up for handwashing was great - two sinks side by side and two draining boards. The kitchen was really well stocked with everything you could think of for food preparation. For one of our meals we did homemade pizza for all - normally this is a problem because you can only cook 2 or 3 pizzas at a time, but the house had 2 kitchens and 3 ovens, and simply loads of baking trays, so we were all served simultaneously. It was a lovely house in a great area. Stunning scenery.
