The local area is full of outdoor adventures. Spot wildlife on the Rough Island bird sanctuary (accessible at low tide) or visit the rspb Reserve at Mersehead. Enjoy a round of golf at the nearby courses of Colvend and Southerness, or experience the world-class mountain-biking trails in Dalbeattie Forest, part of the famous 7Stanes network.
