Reviewers find the property very comfortable, with a warm welcome and a secure lawned area that is great for dogs and children. The interior is described as comfortable and well-appointed.

About this property

Beaumaris 3.3 miles. Yr Hen Dairy is a beautiful barn conversion located in Penmon, on the east of Anglesey’s Area of Natural Beauty. Tucked away on a farm, this family-friendly property boasts mountain and sea views and accommodates a minimum of three cars, an ideal location for families or friend groups and two furry friends. On entrance, you’ll find an open-plan kitchen with integrated appliances and a large island, perfect for displaying your feasts, as well as a lounge/diner with a woodburning stove you can cuddle up by on colder days. The lounge’s double doors open to a patio furnished for your summer picnics, and at the back of the house, an enclosed garden. There’s an additional sitting room with another woodburning stove, TV and plush sofas, should you want to break away from the rest of the group to read a book beside the fire. Finishing off the ground floor, you’ll find a spacious bathroom fitted with both a bath and walk-in shower, where you can freshen up ahead of a day out. As the sun sets, retreat upstairs to the twin or king-size rooms, or make the most of the master bedroom with Jack-and-Jill access to the family bathroom and a balcony overlooking the property’s beautiful plains. A short drive will lead you to a local bistro to dine in, convenience stores if you need to stock up the fridge, and when the sun is shining, pack some lunch and head over to Lleiniog Beach Picnic Site. In the nearby town of Beaumaris, you can visit the historic Beaumaris Castle, or enjoy coastal views and take a stroll on the boardwalk at Beaumaris Pier. If you’re feeling more adventurous, take a boat trip from the pier to Puffin Island. Driving down to Caernarfon you’ll find dog-friendly activities such as visiting Dolbadarn Castle, and Llanberis Lake Railway where you can take a scenic, five-mile steam train journey along Lake Padarn, in the heart of Eryri National Park (Snowdonia). For the thrill-seekers, head over to Adventure Activities Wales for rock climbing and abseiling. Enjoy a fun-filled holiday at Yr Hen Dairy.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.

Nice views of the sea from the front . Great bathrooms however the beds let it down . Not too comfortable and we had to stay in the second double as the bed in the master was a small double . Such a shame as the room is massive . We would none the less recommend as the property itself is really good. Penmon is very special ❤️

We booked again for next Feb! Feedback- bin for downstairs bathroom and maybe an Internet booster for back bedroom but overall it was just amazing ! I cannot recommend it enough! What an absolute slice of heaven! Owners really friendly. We were gutted to come home! It's going to be somewhere we look to visit every year going forward now! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Already counting down for Feb 2025!
