What our customers say about their holidays
Richard - Verified booking
We needed premises within an easy distance to Zip World at Bethesda and it had to accommodate 9 adults and a 2 yr old which Brin Eira Stables appeared to do.
We booked the premises and before we made the journey we had a couple of enquiries which the owner Mrs Brooke kindly sorted out for us and answered our enquiries. The premises are easy to access once over the bridge and were only a 20 minute drive to Zip World. The stables are great as they are so spread out but all inside one building. There is a huge family kitchen that easily sits 10 with room for high chairs as well. There is a conservatory to the rear which leads out to a safe enclosed garden area for children to play in. A nice lounge with TV and room for everyone to watch big events as we were there during the coronation weekend. Bedrooms vary between both sides of the stables with just two bedrooms being up the small flight of stairs, those bedrooms being a large en suite double and a twin. Downstairs below those two bedrooms is another large double with a shower room, toilet and sink close by which can serve both the downstairs double and the upstairs twin. There is a further kitchen fully kitted out with oven, hob, fridge freezer and dishwasher on that side of the stables, together with a raised dining area and bar stool type seating. Beyond the large kitchen on the ground floor on the other side of the stables are two further bedrooms, one double and one twin. These both have access to a further shower room, toilet etc just the other side of the kitchen. So having experienced the main building there is then a further two buildings that offer amenities to guests, these being The Den which is the games room with TV, pool table which converts to a table tennis table and comfortable seating and finally the pool. The pool is just across the courtyard and easily accessed from the main building. It came in really handy as our 2yr old grandson is just getting more comfortable with being in the water and this was an added feature that we really took advantage of. There is a BBQ on the rear enclosed garden complete with fuel packs inside the conservatory. There are books galore to read, novels and local history and information books together with OS maps if you are planning to explore Anglesey during your stay. The railway station with the really long hard to say name is within an easy level 15 / 20 minute walk along well lit roads. The stables are quiet and relaxing considering you have only just left the A55 and you donât even know it is there. All in all we had a brilliant weekend away with family and friends, everyone enjoyed the stay and the stables and we have already told Mrs Brooke that we cannot wait to stay again. Thanks for a great weekend and a lovely venue.

We stayed in the beautiful Bwthyn Awel cottage in January 2022.
The location, in Church Bay is lovely and peaceful with the Lobster Pot restaurant just a short walk from the cottage and a little further on is the beach. The house and facilities are as shown and detailed on the Sykes website but feels much homier than pictures can convey. It is modern looking inside and out with lots of lovely and thoughtful finishing touches. Bedding was charming and the beds very comfortable (which I was happily surprised to find!). There is a 1st floor balcony with decking which will be a lovely place to relax, sip a drink, read, admire the view⦠in the warmer months. Speaking of temperature, it was cold outside when we were staying there but we never felt a draft in the cottage, the water was hot and the temperature was cosy without being too warm. We had Wifi, Netflix and TV channels which we enjoyed from the comfy sofas in the first floor sitting room. Oh yes, and in the beautiful kitchen/eating area with the picturesque view there is a Nespresso machine so donât forget to pack some pods â or pop to Holyhead shops (a short drive away) to stock up on essentials. Holyhead also has some nice shops, cafés and pubs. If you want to eat out nearer to your new home from home â the the Lobster Pot restaurant is open throughout and I have to say the food there was delicious! Lots of seafood as you would expect but other carnivore and vegetarian options available too. We also saw a nearby café, but understand that is only open âin seasonâ. Overall, from our experience, it exceeded our expectations (as did the area) and the new owner couldnât have been more helpful re the very few queries we had. We will definitely be booking another stay in Bwthyn Awel later in the year.

Weâre so glad we came back to âBreeze Cottageâ for another family holiday two years after our first experience of Church Bay ⦠the sun shone for most of our week there, and we took the ten minute walk to the beach every day!
Our swimmers and paddle-boarders enjoyed the safe water, and the local walks are many and varied. Location is everything, and the views over to Holyhead harbour full of interest, though we were glad that cruise liner passengers head elsewhere! We ate on the patio every evening, and the under-tens enjoyed playing in the garden, which thankfully is grass rather than lawn, and with no plants to damage. The garden gate to next doorâs garden enabled occasional play with the youngsters in the adjoining holiday-let cottage. When we tired of cooking for ourselves (and thereâs plenty of kit, so itâs easy to self-cater) Church Bay offers an excellent restaurant (The Lobster Pot) and the Wavecrest Café, both of which we sampled with pleasure. Just be aware that itâs safest to pre-book at the former, though you can always get a drink at their bar, and that the latterâs lovely strawberries and cream scones are only available Thursdays to Sundays. Some (mostly external) aspects of the cottage would benefit from maintenance, but the facilities all work well, with lots of hot water â having three bathrooms helps when youâre accommodating three family groups. The nowadays-essential Wi-Fi was fast enough to support all our many devices. The TV system needs some care to navigate, but we were able to enjoy watching the Olympic Games, even though our own swimming skills wouldnât have taken us to Paris! When our next family holiday heads to Anglesey, Bwthyn Awel will be on the short list.

Myself, my daughter and two grandsons were impressed by the property on arrival.
(July 2022) We gave it 5*s for being in immaculate condition, but the biggest bedroom had quite a musty smell, which needed liberal use of Febreze (not supplied) for a couple of days to dispel. The comfortable furnishings suit the character of the property, although one of its quirks is the slightly uneven flooring and various steps within the living areas. The main kitchen has lots of utensils and equipment, all in tip-top condition, and both kitchens are very modern. The wi-fi router (not password protected) is in the games room and while the signal is good in the main living areas, it does not extend to any of the bedrooms. The two bedrooms accessed through the little kitchen have dehumidifiers that need emptying every day, but the house didnât feel cold; the boiler comes on several times a day leaving the towel rails scalding hot! While there are small shops locally, a large Tesco is only a five-minute drive away, along with other major retail stores. Unfortunately, for the second year running, we picked the wrong week for our holiday: miserable weather and gale winds meant we never used the BBQ, but the boys got lots of use out of the swimming pool and games room. Overall, itâs a super property in a good location to explore Anglesey and North Wales.

Absolutely disgusted-saved for 3 years to pay over £2000 for a week our first family break since covid with children and grandaughter and so many issues!
Complained to owner and Sykes but they just donât care⦠Cottage is damp and smell so and on arrival it has dehumidifiers going that you have to empty and maintain yourselves, leaving clothes in wardrobe makes them smell⦠so many pieces of furniture broken, damaged, old and not as pictures! Whole place filthy dirty, oven a mess even found previous guests clothes in drawers, carpets and furniture caked in dog hairs, kettles broken, pans damaged, no arrival pack, broken pool table, pool Was too cold for baby, wifi abismal, owners partner pipes across after day one and said wifi was unexplainable itâs usually good and heâs not interested as itâs his wifeâs business! , showers fit very small people, loose taps, loose toilet seats, attached to another property and parking is tight , they were allowed two vehicles max but had 3 all week making it right to manoeuvre..generally in very poor condition, and the owners do not care if you have issues, we tried to get some sort of resolution but now being ignored! This is supposed to be a luxury cottage for 10 with swimming pool and at over £2220 for a week you would expect a bit of luxury- unfortunately you donât get what you expect ⦠please be careful when booking or simply donât do it, look elsewhere â¦.
