What our customers say about their holidays

We stayed at the cottage just after New Year with our group of 6 friends.
We had a fabulous time in the cottage and local area. The cottage is cosy, warm (that log burner is a treat!) and is just a delight to stay in. Given the rather low temperatures outside, it was great to have efficient heating and showering facilities- as well as equipment to manage the post beach/forest dog walk/swimming clothing! A well equipped kitchen made the post NY celebration dinners for our group a breeze to cater for. And those sofas are great to smuggle into with a book or two! Comfy beds too- especially important for our over 50âs party who needed such support! There is plenty of parking for two vehicles at the cottage itself and in our case, visitors were able to easily park nearby. There is a lovely garden which would provide great outdoor dining space, which we hope to take advantage of later in the year. Also, it is so easy to access a range of stunning local beaches such as Barafundle and there are so many small villages and towns with fabulous cafes and restaurants, a diverse range of independent shops, etc. The local area is truly a treat and if you are bringing dogsâ¦so many great walks are on offer. This area is SO dog friendly which made the break enjoyable for the three pooches accompanying us on this trip, Overallâ¦really impressed and will book again

Firstly, finding the cottage was quite difficult but this was resolved by two phone calls to the owner.
It would be extremely helpful if a sign were set up at the entrance to the property. On arrival, we were met with a pile of household rubbish next to the gate, presumably from previous guests. There was also a bag containing dog poo on the grassed area at the front of the house. We did not have a dog with us. The property itself is functional rather than homely but was clean and well equipped. It would have been helpful if the toilet had been left with a toilet roll for the first day. In the listing and instructions provided by Sykes & the owner, much is made of dealing with leftover food, with requests to remove any prior to leaving. On our arrival, there was food left in the freezer and one of the cupboards. When we left, we removed all of our food but left behind that of previous guests. Some clarification of dealing with domestic rubbish would also be helpful. Overall, our stay was manageable but I would not recommend this property if you are looking for a traditional country experience.

We arrived in pouring rain opened the key safe Ok, there were four keys which we had great trouble opening the rear door as keys had to be applied in a sequence. We could not get a phone signal but was able to make a call to your office from the local pub, Stackpole Inn. We received mixed messages some said the keys were in the silver safe box ? However a young guy arrived to open the door. He also showed us where to park which again was hidden from view from the property. The enclosed garden was behind a 6ft fence between various properties, you entered via a bolted door with no indication this was part of Chestnut cottage. The garden was not laid to lawn (rough grass) and there was no BBQ as stated on your website. The property was not securely gated at the rear entrance and dogs and young children could wander onto the road. We believe the cottage was overpriced for what it had to offer. The owner did buy us a drink via the Stackpole Inn due to the key entry problem.

The most amazing 2 weeks.
Beautiful Chapel, comfortable sleeping and living. Everything you could possibly need. The projector with surround sound makes movie nights the best. The welcome basket was perfect after a 3 hour drive on our arrival day. This was our 4th or 5th stay needless to say we will return. It is close to the tank base where you can be a spectator for some of their manoeuvres, just look up their schedules. You can see and hear them if you walk down the path by the Chapel. Stand on the bank and be nosy. We picked heaps of sloe berries this time, gin I think will be added to those, and an abundance of blackberries. Great location for Freshwater West and East. Picked up lovely drift wood at West where you will find Cafe Mor!! Lovely walks in the Stackpole Estate forest. Lots of chestnuts at this time of year. Our dogs were exhausted after 2 weeks of different daily walks. I am booking another stay for March. Thank you for your beautiful holiday home

Another wonderful stay at the chapel.
We were so lucky with the weather. Everything you could possibly need in the chapel. Even did some baking. Lots of movement on the tank base and firing. This did not bother our dogs. Schedules can be googled and the spectators towers can be accessed. 5 minutes away by car. The path by the Chapel takes you alongside one of fields where you can see the tanks sometimes. Lots of walks. Can recommend the Walked Gardens. Spent a good 1.5 hours wandering around. Dogs on leads within the garden off lead outside towards outer walls. Lovely walk from Stackpole carpark to Barafundle. Dogs loved the swimming at Stackpole Quay. So much to do, so many different walks. Stayed 2 weeks and didn't want to go home. This place is a real gem that accepts our 3 dogs. A real home from home. We love it.
