What our customers say about their holidays

We returned yesterday, after a week in Cowslip cottage.
It was everything we expected it to be. A real mix of rustic with bespoke furniture and modern sofas. We arrived on a very wet miserable friday afternoon and as we opened the door we stepped into the kitchen, where we found a lovely welcome letter, a bottle of wine, fresh flowers in a vase and 6 large fresh eggs. A nice gesture that made us feel very welcome indeed. The cottage is very spacious, 3 large sofas on the ground floor along with a rocking chair, huge flat screen tv, coffee table, fitted kitchen with everything that you could want, large fridge freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. Hob and oven and washing machine is in the cupboard across the room. We ventured further and found the king size bed and ensuite, again rustic bespoke wardrobes and drawers and the room was lovely and warm. Huge bed, im only 5'0", so it was no mean feat getting onto it every night. The ensuite is spacious with shower, sink, toilet and some shelves housing other equipment. We went upstairs out of curiousity really and discovered that it was just as lovely up there, but as there were only the 2 of us, we didnt need to go up there again. But there is plenty of room for a family of 6. Outside there is a garden, safe for kiddies and dogs, a wonderful hot tub and views of the sheep and horses in the nearby field. Its a haven, away from the hustle and bustle and you are surrounded by beautiful nature, and there is something so magical about sitting outside and all you can hear is the faint bleating of sheep and the birds singing. The weather wasnt the best, but the cottage made up for that. The owners Clere and Stephen were lovely people, they made themselves known and we had phone numbers to contact them if needed, but they just let us do our thing. We had a lovely week away, felt thoroughly relaxed and we would highly recommend Cowslip cottage.

The cottage was comfortable and nicely equipped and while located in a lovely rural setting it was still well placed for exploring the area.
The owner Stephen was welcoming and popped over to give us some extra information about the area which we appreciated. The provision of fresh eggs and a bottle of wine upon arrival was a nice touch as was the vase of fresh cut flowers. The hot tub was a fantastic addition and was well maintained. Two issues we found: 1. Flies! We were constantly bothered by flies inside the cottage particularly in the kitchen and living area. Flies dancing on the kitchen worktop and equipment while preparing food was off putting as was flies skirting the rim of glasses and mugs we were drinking from when placed on the coffee table in the lounge. I appreciate that flies on a livestock farm will be an issue but perhaps the listing should make it clear that the cottage is on a working farm close to cow sheds. Although we found a can of fly spray in one of the cupboards it did little to control the fly numbers present. Perhaps the issue could be tackled by installing electric fly killers or similar at least in the kitchen and living areas. 2. On first glance the garden appeared to be fully secure as it was fenced all the way around. However there was a small gap under one section sufficient to allow the farm dog in and our dog out! On the first morning of our stay one of our dogs managed to get out without us initially noticing. Fortunately he came back, but not before half an hour of frantic searching. Once wise to the gap we used rocks from the rockery to fill it. After that all was good! Despite the flies we loved the cottage and we would choose to stay there again if holidaying in the Pembrokeshire area.

The facility and location is fine.
Plenty of crockery etc but the one pair of scissors are blunt and there is no cutting board apart from a cracked wooden one. Not the best for chopping vegetables etc. Conflicting information given on whether or not there is a DVD player. We could not find one. The welcome file has some pages which have at such stage been damp so you canât read some of them. Not a good impression. Back in October after booking I asked for the twin beds to be zipped together. I w anted to confirm that all was ok. After two aborted 20 minute waits on the telephone, I finally got through after another 15 minutes and was told that the caretakers had been informed of our request. On arrival the beds had not been zipped together. The caretakers claimed they werenât informed. There are two floor areas (living/dining area and rear bedroom where the floor was very uneven and caused problems in closing the rear bedroom door quietly. Attention to detail overall compared to other places we have stayed in was poor.

We had a wonderful week at Ty Rhosyn: the facilities were excellent with everything you need in the kitchen plus a very thoughtful array of books and games for all ages.
Beds were comfortable and it was great having two bathrooms. There is a very pleasant feeling of space in the cottage, which is light and airy and has a small but pleasing garden and patio area. An extra bonus was the nearby cove at Penycwm: this is a short walk across the road and down a quiet lane, where you meet the coast path with extensive views and then on to the cove itself. This is a sandy, pebbly beach with some caves and tremendous waves on a windy day, and we were often the only ones there. It made a nice sunset walk, too. The cottage is also very well placed for exploring St David's and lots of bays and coastal walks are just a short drive away. We enjoyed a boat trip to Skomer Island where we saw puffins and other sea birds and our favourite walk was from Whitesands along to St David's Head, where there are wild ponies, lots of boulders to scramble on and a good bay with caves and rock pools en route. We would love to return for another stay.

We loved this character cottage which was of a very high standard.
It is very spacious. Lots of beams and homely touches like fresh flowers and wine. Kitchen was very well equipped and bedrooms very spacious. More beams in bedrooms upstairs. Great pillows which we find can often be flat in holiday accommodation, but not in this cottage! Lovely bed linen and there was nothing to fault. The only thing to mention is that the stairs are steep so if someone is not good on stairs, they can still sleep in the downstairs bedroom. We were spoilt with 3 bathrooms and 3 sofas! Heard cows in the background which we liked as it was a reminder we were in the country. Convenient for Haverfordwest, where there are supermarkets. The town also has a small outlet near the hospital, where you can find other stores to browse if the weather isn't good. We had very damp weather but it was January! At least we had a warm, homely cottage to return to. Would highly recommend this cottage for the perfect stay in the country in beautiful Pembrokeshire.
