What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Grant - Verified booking
We were very impressed with Swallow Cottage in terms of facilities, cleanliness and comfort. Warm, welcoming and we were never without. It was perfect to come back to at the end of a long, tiring wet day! The host welcomed us with a generous hospitality tray with snacks as well as drinks. Hand soap, washing liquid and laundry liquid are all provided. The tumble dryer is communal and there's a little extra charge when used, but the communal washing line can be used on dry days. The carpark is along the drive as you come in, so it's a short walk to get to the cottages but a pull-alone wagon is available for you to pile your luggage into. Plenty of crockery, cutlery, pots/pans and knives that are actually sharp! There were even plastic bowls etc for the kids. The photos of the children's play area on this website don't do it justice - there's a wendy house, pirate ship, a selection of ride-on cars/tractors - all in an area safely gated away from the carpark. Probably suited up to age 5 or 6, but there's a larger climbing frame in the back garden for older ones. There's literally a shed full of toys/games for visitors to borrow, including beach toys and windbreakers. The owner lives onsite and was friendly and quickly available to help when we had questions. The location was ideal as it was only about 30mins drive to beaches and attractions either north or south Pembs, with a Tesco Extra only 5 mins drive away. We liked Tenby (larger choice of ice cream and fish/chip vendors!) And Heatherton world of activities was an excellent alternative to all the beaches. Haverfordwest itself has a castle and museum but currently closed.

What a shame!
This house has all the potential to become a beautiful retreat with lots of walking and beaches nearby. However, it has clearly not been properly maintained for some time and the layout, especially upstairs, is just dangerous. The house was not very clean either. We had to call Sykes the day after we arrived and told them all our issues and also met the maintenance guy who was lovely. This house is for sale so donât expect anything to be rectified. We had to buy some pillows as the ones in the house were useless and the double bed mattress was terrible. We had to sleep in the kids bedroom. The so called welcome hamper was a joke. You could have put in milk, something to make a hot drink with, like teabags or the coffee we were expecting - or the wine!! Not a tough chunk of bread without anything to put on it and some soggy soap. This place is great if youâre a dog but not if youâre the one paying the bill for it. The lounge cushion summed up our experience- it said âDogs welcome, people toleratedâ We left a big maintenance list in the notebook for the housekeeper (as requested) but doubt if much of it will get done. The positive things were the good supply of kidâs stuff in the garage and also the nice view and private garden. Would we go back? Not likely.

Hi, having just returned from dill cottage we were pleased to see it from the outside, however on the inside it was not so pleasing.
In our opinion the property was not very clean and not well maintained. The cottage has the potential to be the 4.5* rating but to obtain that score it is in need of a good renovation as it is it is only worth 2*. The toilet roll holder was of the wall. The shower downstairs was dirty inside and out and the cubicle has got a lot of black mould. The area between the bedroom and kitchen has a funny smell if you have both doors closed (as mentioned in another review) The kitchen was ok but the table has a lot of crumbs in the joints on the top not very hygenic. and the microwave was dirty. The living room was nice but the settees must be the worse I have ever sat on and very tatty. The TV is not sky TV as in the write up as there is no viewing card, and the remote was not very good. No mention of the code for the WIFI there is a space in the paperwork but it is blank??I worked it out eventually!! there was also many dead flies and dust behind the table with the WIFI box on it. There were black dog hairs on the stairs dust webs in many places . All in all the property was not up to the standard of the other Sykes properties we have been in and certainly not worth the amount of money we have paid!!!!!

Swallow Cottage is a lovely and easy place to spend a holiday. The property is stylish and well furnished with very comfy beds and sofa. The kitchen is great, the shower is nice and powerful and the wifi is good. The upstairs bedroom was perfect for my 8 and 10 year old sons, although I did bang my head once or twice! Having a large garden for the kids to play in was great, and the property has really nicely planted gardens all round which looked fantastic when we visited. The location is excellent, just outside Haverfordwest it manages to be out in the countryside and yet 2 minutes drive from a supermarket. The nearest beach at Broad Haven is only 10 minutes drive away and is really nice, and there are a plethora of other beaches and other attractions all within easy reach - we particularly enjoyed the Wicked Chocolate factory, Blue Lagoon waterpark and crabbing in Dale. All in all Pembrokeshire is a great location for a family holiday, and Swallow Cottage was a great base to enjoy it from.

We had a wonderful week at Ty Rhosyn: the facilities were excellent with everything you need in the kitchen plus a very thoughtful array of books and games for all ages.
Beds were comfortable and it was great having two bathrooms. There is a very pleasant feeling of space in the cottage, which is light and airy and has a small but pleasing garden and patio area. An extra bonus was the nearby cove at Penycwm: this is a short walk across the road and down a quiet lane, where you meet the coast path with extensive views and then on to the cove itself. This is a sandy, pebbly beach with some caves and tremendous waves on a windy day, and we were often the only ones there. It made a nice sunset walk, too. The cottage is also very well placed for exploring St David's and lots of bays and coastal walks are just a short drive away. We enjoyed a boat trip to Skomer Island where we saw puffins and other sea birds and our favourite walk was from Whitesands along to St David's Head, where there are wild ponies, lots of boulders to scramble on and a good bay with caves and rock pools en route. We would love to return for another stay.
