Muncaster View is a cosy cottage set on a working farm in a beautiful part of Cumbria, offering stunning views and easy access to local walks and attractions. Guests consistently praise the friendly and helpful hosts, the warmth and comfort of the property, and its peaceful rural location. While some mention minor maintenance issues and occasional cleanliness concerns, most found the cottage well-equipped and ideal for exploring the Lake District. The rural setting means internet can be patchy, and the cottage is best suited to those seeking a tranquil countryside escape.
Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, but a few reported issues such as cobwebs, pet hair, and occasional mildew or dirty appliances. These concerns were not universal, but suggest some inconsistency in cleaning standards.
The location is highly praised for its scenic views, proximity to walks, and easy access to local attractions like Muncaster Castle and Wastwater. The rural setting is a highlight for most guests.
Guests frequently describe the cottage as warm, cosy, and comfortable, with good beds and a welcoming atmosphere. Some mention the property can get hot upstairs and that windows cannot always be opened, but overall comfort is rated highly.
The cottage is generally well-equipped, with most essentials provided. However, some guests noted maintenance issues (e.g., shower drainage, loose fittings, small TV, and lack of stair gate) and occasional missing kitchen items. Internet can be unreliable due to the rural location.
The hosts are repeatedly described as friendly, helpful, and communicative, going out of their way to ensure guests have a pleasant stay. While no specific mention of gifts was found, the overall approach is welcoming and attentive. Please note that gifts are not guaranteed.

Overall, well equipped for our purposes. Close proximity to Muncaster (free parking and great walks), Seascale (great fish and chips and coastal walks) and the Bridge Inn and Bower Hotel nearby are very much recommended for Lunch. Perhaps, an upgrade in size of television on the living area wall and the provision of a small table to go in front of the comfy sofa could just elevate this already good value property to the next level. Our small dog loved the local area and the cottage does already have much to offer for everyone. Harry and Wendy

The view was nice, but everything else was a letdown. 1. It was filthy: The place was gross and smelled bad. The mats/ carpets were covered in dog hair, and one of the toilets was dirty when we got there, so I had to clean it myself. There were flies and spiders everywhere. Kids had to srram overtime seeing them. 2. It wasn't maintained: One bathroom was completely blocked, so we couldn't shower in it. The showerhead leaked. The vacuum cleaner smelled so bad that we all felt sick when we took it out. The kitchen trash bin didn't work, so we had to open it by hand every time. 3. No essentials: The kitchen didn't have a pan, so we had to buy one for breakfast. There wasn't a dustpan, just a brush. 4. Wrong location: The postcode took us somewhere else, and the house was at least four minutes away. It was hard to find, and the area around the house and the road to get there was sketchy and dirty. Overall, it was a really bad experience with the kids to stay at Muncaster view. I wouldn't recommend it if you have kids or allergies to dogs. Not the worth of money.
