Guests say

Isabella Cottage is praised for its peaceful setting, excellent location for walks and exploring Northumberland, and its suitability for families and dog owners. Guests appreciate the spaciousness, well-equipped amenities, and welcoming touches from the owner. While some mention the property is dated and note issues with comfort and soundproofing due to connecting doors, the majority highlight the cottage’s cleanliness, value for money, and the abundance of local attractions. The thoughtful gestures from the host and the convenience of nearby amenities add to the positive experience.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, with particular praise for the bedding and general upkeep. However, a few reviews mention areas needing improvement, such as the kitchen floor and some furnishings.

The location is highly rated, with guests enjoying direct access to walks, proximity to Newcastle and Northumberland, and a peaceful rural setting. Minor noise from the airport and trains was noted but did not detract significantly from the overall experience.

Guests appreciated the spaciousness and warmth, but several mentioned uncomfortable sofas, a dated mattress, and some coldness downstairs, especially in winter. Soundproofing issues due to connecting doors were also raised.

The cottage is generally well-equipped for holidays, with amenities for families and dog owners. However, some guests found the kitchen small with limited workspace, and noted that some furnishings and facilities could benefit from refurbishment.

Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as fresh flowers, wine, biscuits, and essentials on arrival. Please note that these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

lovely area for walking and cycling right from door step. pub in walking distance. Unfortunately Cottage has Two internal connecting doors to owners house, one in kitchen, one on landing. owners dog kept barking at internal kitchen door also could hear talking setting our dogs off barking, did not make a relaxing trip. upstairs could hear owners flushing loo etc, through internal door. generally house needs refurbishment, no work top space in kitchen, we were only cooking for two. inly ine radiator downstairs. we guessing, house was owners parents. hence connecting doors and now let it as it was when their parents lived there. could be lovely with an update and tidying up back yard.

Well placed for visiting attractions in the area. A short drive to local shops and a lovely country park nearby. Cottage was very clean with everything we needed. This was our second visit and we had a very enjoyable week.

Excellent location for Newcastle and the surrounding area. Good enclosed garden for our dog with lots of walking from the doorstep. Welcoming touches in the flowers, biscuits etc. waiting for us. Great configuration of beds for our family of 5. However, the dining and living areas need improving to work for the 5 people that it is marketed for. Very small kitchen with minimal work surface space, and only 1 place setting per person.
