About this property

This three-storey detached country house, a former hotel is set in a most enviable position on the outskirts of Ulverston, in the spectacular Lake District. Recently fully renovated in 2018 to a very high standard this is a great place for a large group of family and friends to get away from it all, enjoy the many delights of this unspoilt area and simply relax and unwind in this splendid holiday home. Fully modernised throughout the owners have thought of everything in terms of the guest experience, from luxury bedrooms with all en-suite facilities, the fabulous bar and a whole range of amenities to enhance anyone’s stay at this premier holiday home.

With so many features to mention, here are but a few. The main hallway leads through to a spacious lounge with feature fireplace, high ceiling with detailed coving. The main bar area boasts a pool table, large screen TV and is a place to all get together to have a few cooling drinks from the wine coolers, open a few beers and create your own bar room atmosphere (The bar pumps are for decorative purposes only). A large modern, open plan kitchen with wall mounted flat screen TV and a lovely seating area with cosy wood-burning stove, feature fireplace and patio doors provide another great place to sit and talk about your day and to prepare a family dinner. The main dining area overlooks the mature garden area and also provides small secluded seating areas to get away from it all and catch up with an old friend or family member. The ground floor leisure suite offers a great place to relax and unwind with a lovely seating area, space for exercise, yoga and pilates and a fabulous sauna to soak away the aches and pains. Just outside the leisure room the property has a private patio area with hot tub. There are two ground floor bedrooms, both with ensuite facilities and one room designed specifically for wheelchair access, making it the perfect choice for anyone with limited mobility. A useful entrance hall with Gents and Ladies cloakroom along with a disabled cloakroom, a utilty room with washing facilities all go together to provide everything a large group will need. Ascend the wide staircase to the first floor where there are seven impeccably designed bedrooms, six with ensuite facilities, a fabulous master bedroom with stunning en-suite, a useful family room with four single beds, a family room with super king-size and a separate twin room ideal for young children. The second floor boasts a further three bedrooms on two levels and offer pleasant views out across the surrounding grounds and the nearby garden centre. Outside, there is a spacious parking area, a mature garden area, patio and a lovely grassed area to enjoy a picnic or a kick around with the kids united team. A short ten-minute walk takes guests down into Ulverston. A thriving maritime community developed when the Canal was constructed in 1796. Ships from Ulverston exported copper, slate and linens around the World. Today the town goes from strength to strength with ever increasing visitor numbers enjoying the many pubs with live music nights, the lovely eateries, the weekly market, the labyrinth of cobbled streets and of course the start of the seventy-mile Cumbrian Way. The coastline of the Furness Peninsula offers great beach walks, horse riding and good birdwatching, while all the splendour of the Lake District National Park, from the sparkling waters of Windermere to the rugged peaks of Scafell Pike and the famous Langdales are just around the corner. A great location with a fabulous holiday home, all the ingredients for that next memorable holiday!

The market town of Ulverston offers a street market every Thursday and Saturday, a number of events throughout the year, the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world, shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, a cinema and a leisure centre. The Furness Coast is nearby and boasts sandy beaches and birdwatching, and the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Lakes Windermere and Coniston and popular Birkrigg Common are within reach.

This property is amazing everyone really enjoyed it, plenty of room for everyone to be together or a quiet lounge if you wanted to just sit & chat! We had a couple of issues which were sorted immediately so no complaints at all! Facilities were well thought out, we could eat in easily as kitchen well provided with all you need! Thank you for helping to make this a weekend to remember!

The house is huge and had more than enough space for us, we spent most of our time in the bar area. Check-in was very smooth and the owner communicated with me on the arrival day with lots of useful information - the cafe in the adjoining garden centre was excellent for breakfasts. 10 minutes walk from the town and costs £4 for a taxi back, great location and nice and quiet on the evening. I would definitely recommend it and would happily return in the future.

After our weekend I waited over 10 days for the deposit I was then told we had left damage. We we knew we hadn’t, I requested pictures on numerous occasions and received blurry pictures of fluff on some floor and towels with make up on that hadn’t been attempted to be cleaned. After back and forth we only received £800 back as she charged us for a cleaning company to go in. I have since seen on the cleaning company’s Facebook page them cleaning the property and not one stain is shown anywhere that she had claimed. The house is lovely and our stay was amazing unfortunately the after service is poor and be very cautious about the bond requested. Take plenty of pictures upon entering and exiting the property. So disappointed in the customer service.
