Guests say

Albany House in Whitby is a spacious and well-furnished property, praised for its ideal location and ample parking. Guests appreciate the comfortable accommodation and the thoughtful touches like a welcome bag. While some maintenance issues and wear are noted, the house's charm and the convenience it offers for larger groups and family gatherings are consistently highlighted.

The property generally receives positive remarks on cleanliness, with guests finding it clean upon arrival. However, there are some mentions of cobwebs, debris, and a few instances of unclean kitchen appliances, suggesting room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to the town centre, harbour, and beach, making it an ideal base for exploring Whitby. The convenience of having parking in such a central location is also frequently commended.

Guests find the house comfortable, with ample space and good quality bedding and towels. Some guests mention issues with bed comfort and a smell in one of the bathrooms, but overall, the property is regarded as warm and welcoming.

While the property is well-equipped, several reviews mention maintenance issues such as leaks, plumbing problems, and electrical concerns. These issues indicate that the facilities could benefit from attention and updates.

There are positive comments about thoughtful gestures, such as a welcome bag with tea and coffee, which guests found delightful. However, as not all reviews mention such gifts and there is no guarantee of their provision, a score cannot be accurately assigned.

Situated in the perfect position in the town and with ample parking, the house itself was clean, spacious, tastefully furnished and very welcoming. Breakfast round the large kitchen table was the perfect start to the day. Everyone staying had a great night’s sleep and all bedding and towels were spotless and there were no problems with water or the showers. Yes, it was a little tired in places but it added to the charm of this lovely home and we can’t wait to come back.

It's great to find somewhere central with parking. Having stayed in October we were especially glad that the heating worked really well. It is beautifully decorated with only one or two areas of minor end-of-season damage. The living room has plenty of comfortable seating for 9 and there's a big table in the kitchen. The only real drawback is that the first floor bedrooms are much larger and have en suites, as opposed to the smaller bedrooms on the second floor - but this is an unavoidable part of the layout and there was no problem with any of the rooms. One thing that should be fixed is that the showers were slow-draining. Thank you, would definitely stay here again.

Although the house is on a hill, we found it ideal for town and harbour. The house was generally clean although there were a few issues regarding its age, ie mould in the bathrooms, drain smells and just general signs of wear and tear. Having said that, we were very comfortable and the heating was very good for cooler days. The parking is very difficult, there being a very tight space for only two cars. Also access and leaving the property by car is also difficult because of the very narrow streets and one way system, which was very hard to figure out! The children loved the house because of its spaciousness. I would recommend Albany House but to be aware that it is an old house and it needs some updating and maintenance.
