Guests say

Water's Edge in Whitby is highly praised for its superb location with scenic river views, wildlife, and proximity to local amenities. Guests enjoy the property's cleanliness, comfort, and well-equipped facilities, including a conservatory and spacious lounge. The presence of steam trains adds charm, although some guests note the beds can be too soft and the noise from nearby roads. Overall, it's a well-loved property for family holidays and peaceful retreats.

Guests consistently mention the property's cleanliness, describing it as spotless and well-maintained. There are a few isolated comments about minor issues like chipped crockery and stains on carpets, but these do not detract significantly from the overall high standards reported.

The location is frequently highlighted as perfect, with its peaceful setting by the river, abundant wildlife, and easy access to Whitby. The occasional mention of noise from a nearby road and church clock is noted, but guests seem to adapt quickly, and the positives far outweigh these comments.

Comfort is well-regarded, with guests finding the property homely and the beds comfortable, although there are remarks about some beds being too soft or creaky. The spacious lounge and conservatory are particularly appreciated for relaxation.

Facilities are generally praised for being well-equipped and adding to the enjoyment of the stay. There are minor criticisms about the dishwasher and the awkward placement of the freezer and microwave, but overall, guests are satisfied with the amenities provided.

While guests express appreciation for the property and its amenities, there is no specific mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the owner. Therefore, a score cannot be given for thoughtfulness, and it remains null.

About this property

A superb, modern terraced property, situated in an enviable position on the banks of the River Esk, in the bustling village of Ruswarp, two miles from the centre of Whitby. Set in the grounds of a former mill, this spacious Ruswarp cottage has been beautifully furnished to provide first-class accommodation, with contemporary styling throughout. This Ruswarp cottage boasts a bright and airy first floor sitting room, with lovely views over the river, whilst downstairs, the well-equipped kitchen leads into a sunny conservatory, a perfect room to sit and relax in and watch the abundance of wildlife on the river. Offering four stylish bedrooms, this Ruswarp cottage provides a very comfortable holiday home for both families and friends. Outside this Ruswarp cottage, a small enclosed patio has gated access to the river, a lovely spot to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the steam trains that regularly pass by in the summer months. Ruswarp itself offers good amenities, including an excellent butcher's, local shop, village pub and boating on the river. A nearby public footpath provides a pleasant walk into Whitby, with its narrow cobbled streets, long sandy beaches and famous abbey. With the stunning countryside of the heather-clad moors close by, and a spectacular coastline, this Ruswarp cottage provides a good base to explore this beautiful area.

Just two miles inland from the seaside resort of Whitby and the Yorkshire Coast is the quiet little North York Moors village of Ruswarp. As well as a nine-hole golf course, this quaint little place also enjoys the use of a village pub and shop as well as both sea and river fishing facilities. The river which runs through town provides excellent opportunities for a boat ride, or just a few minutes away is the local miniature steam railway. Loved sitting in the conservatory watching wildlife, canoes, paddle-boarders & trains. Hardly used the lovely lounge. Beds were comfy. Downstairs bedroom was a bonus. Would certainly consider a return stay as well positioned for walking or getting the bus into Whitby.

We didn’t get out much as the weather was terrible. But looking forward to our next visit.
