It dates back several centuries and is steeped in history, having once been in use as the toll house regulating the passage of traffic from the harbour.

Booked a family holiday here the area itself was amazing!! The house looked great on the pictures but unfortunately mattresses all was in terrible condition all stained with alot of bodily fluids that had leaked off the mattresses onto the bedding that was grim, the curtains and blinds all need replacing, there was a food waste bin with dog poo, inside the floors in a sorry state, broken mirror in bedroom. There was a washing machine but no pegs, airer or washing line to dry clothes on. Overall very disappointed for the money paid and had to leave early from our holiday as advised by an employee. Havent been able to get a resolution as the owners are apparently out of the country. Nearly a week on and still haven't heard anything.

We enjoyed our stay at Ben Ma Cree. The house was a bit spartan for anyone wanting to cook meals(no mixing bowls or oven ware, whisks).The people in 2 bedrooms didn't like the thin blinds which didn't keep out the bright security light thet shined 24/7 and kept them awake.The position is above the village and was quiet with good views. Heaters kept the place warm and the main room on the top floor was very pleasant.Very helpful staff sorted any problems out quickly(except the security light).

+ Cottage is in a great location with lovely views+ Cycle racks were so good to have an an unexpected bonus+ Hot tub is brilliant though it would be good if this was hot on the day of arrival so it could be used for the whole stay+ Toaster broke, we called and a replacement was sent straight away+ We at at the restaurant, food was good, staff were lovely and there's a 10% discount- Mattresses were filthy with big brown stains on the one in the the first bedroom (I couldn't face stripping the beds at the end of the stay as I wasn't sure I wanted to see what we'd been sleeping on!)- Mattresses were also quite uncomfy, I think these all need renewed- Black mould in the bathroom- Hot tub is on a public path which is fine but would have been good to know in advance as you're very visible- Kitchen is great with loads of nice units but very few utensils so it would be hard to cook for the 8 people it sleeps- Sleeps 8 but only seating for 4 in the living room. Could do with removing the table up there and adding more seating- Showers need a good scrub- Couldn't get the french doors to lock- Maybe not the fault of the cottage but there were black bags of rubbish at the back door for the whole stay, assuming this was from previous guests along with the rubbish on the balconyAll in all it needs someone to go through it and view it through the eyes of a guest. If it was smartened up a bit it would be a wonderful find.
