Guests say

Braich-Y-Celyn Lodge is a cosy and homely cottage with stunning estuary views, appreciated for its quiet location and comfortable amenities. Guests have enjoyed the local scenery, the welcoming touches, and the property's character, despite some finding the technology and kitchen facilities challenging.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, with fresh bedding and towels. However, a few mentioned issues with cobwebs and a smelly kitchen upon arrival, which slightly affects the overall cleanliness perception.

The location is praised for its stunning views and quietness. However, the impracticality of walking to the town due to narrow roads without paths, and the proximity to the main road, has been a concern for some guests.

The majority of guests found the beds comfortable and the lodge cosy, especially noting the underfloor heating and wood burner. Some concerns were raised about steep stairs and limited sofa comfort.

While the lodge offers a range of facilities, including a car parking permit and a wood burner, guests have noted a lack of kitchenware and complicated technology. The absence of reviews explicitly mentioning maintenance prevents a definitive score in this category.

Guests have appreciated the thoughtful touches like the welcoming bottle of wine and the book of walks. It's important to note that such gifts, while delightful, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Aberdovey 1 mile. A delightful, detached cottage, a former entrance lodge to a country estate, with wonderful estuary views, on the outskirts of the seaside resort of Aberdovey. Full of character, with features including beams, slate flooring, the original bread oven, a woodburner, underfloor heating and original ornamental fireplaces in the bedrooms, this lovely Wales cottage has been sympathetically restored, and decorated with great style. With wonderful views from every room over the estuary and the sandy beach just one mile away, this is a delightful setting. Aberdovey has shops, tea rooms and pubs. Great days out can be had in Machynlleth, the Snowdonia National Park, or on the local steam railway. A perfect Aberdovey cottage to return to, whatever the time of year.

Renowned for its mild climate, sandy beaches, sailing and a championship 18-hole links golf course, the picturesque harbour village of Aberdovey is often referred to as "an artist's paradise". Packed with pastel coloured cottages, small shops, inns and excellent restaurants which specialise in local seafood, the settlement offers a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. Aberdovey boasts some of the finest beaches in Britain, including four miles of golden sand dunes running north to Tywyn - home of the world-famous Talyllyn Steam Railway. Popular with sunbathers, swimmers, surfers and fishermen, these beaches make a wonderful spot for a day trip, whilst the estuary attracts a wide range of water sports enthusiasts. The peaks of the Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy ranges are also close by and offer a range of walks at different difficulty levels.

A good base to return to after explorations. Covered all the bases for comfort and service up. Lovely.

Kitchen very small and badly arranged. Bathroom good. Bedrooms nice and comfortable with lovely views. Sorting out heating etc really difficult and house littered with QR codes for operating manuals. Kitchen smelly on arrival.
