What our customers say about their holidays
Confirmed Guest - Verified booking
Lovely large house, great location, close to shops, park etc. The house was very well equipped and stocked all our essentials ie toilet rolls, washing up liquid, even tin foil, cling film and sandwich bags. There were 10 of us split over a 2 week stay at Braidwood, 5 children & 5 adults. The house had plenty of large rooms to accommodate us all. The children really enjoyed the garden and the park out the back gate. We all walked round the park by the loch, the kids enjoyed playing on the playground. Made our way back with a walk up Queens Street. I enjoyed sitting in the garden at night & early morning, while everyone was in bed, having a cup of tea and a cigarette, it was so peaceful and the different birds certainly kept me entertained, the robin especially came to greet me every morning. 2022 was my 25th year of staying in Scotland for my annual summer holiday, my late mother's people were all Dalbeattie folk born & bred. I lost my mum 8 years ago, also losing my eldest brother 4 weeks after mum's passing. They are laid to rest in and around their favourite places, Sandyhills, Rockcliffe etc. They are all together at Sweetheart Abbey alongside my aunt (mum's sister) and her son (my cousin) My Summer holiday are sort of like a pilgrimage to visit my loved ones resting place and a promise I made too my mum on her last visit to Sweetheart Abbey, that every year I would visit with flowers. I also visit the Haugh of Urr were some of mum's family are laid to rest. I hope that one day I will get to stay at Braidwood again, I'm opting for a much quieter holiday next year without all the grand kids. As always booking through Discover Scotland my holiday is always 100% satisfactory. Great Property in a Great Location...Thank You for an amazing holiday on behalf of myself and family members who stayed with us. See You All Next Year

Very clean and comfortable beds.
A beautiful view right from the living room windows over the Tamar valley makes you feel like youâre on holiday. It was beautiful with a low lying mist in the mornings. The property does have a highchair (great condition) and travel cot ( not v good condition) and we bought ours which was a shame as the car was bursting and we could have left it at home. The lodge is very warm. The heating was set on a timer we couldnât find and went off in the eve. We would have liked to sit up late with the heating on low. It was warm in bed though. Shower needs some attention. And not strong pressure. Couldnât wash my hair in it. We will definitely come back. Pub on site not very clean or welcoming. Indoor pool was fun.

House was comfortable and well presented.
Beds were very comfortable. Lots of storage space. Feel that the kitchen lacked some basic equipment such as a potato peeler. Having no cleaning spray, cleaning cloths etc, spare black bags meant we had to buy some. Spa Bath didn't work. Having the conservatory was a nice place to sit what ever the weather and the children enjoyed the games room, having a shower room off of there was useful. Large fridge freezer and second freezer. Swimming pool gets booked up so book early. Play areas good. Need to bring your own teatowels, oven gloves, cleaning clothes, dishwasher tablets and washing powder. Some small bottles of shower gel etc provided. It was a very relaxing and quiet place to stay, would recommend.

We had an amazing week staying at School House – a beautiful house with stunning gardens and an incredible pool. The North Norfolk beaches did not disappoint – plenty of dog walks on Brancaster and Wells. We were fortunate to stumble across The White Horse, Brancaster for their Lobster and Fizz Festival – we loved it!We also cooked delicious meals at the house courtesy of Gurney’s in Burnham Market (and went back several times) – now we need to remortgage the house but it was worth every penny! Thank you for letting us stay in your gorgeous house – first class in every way! We even had sunshine every day – that made a change given the ‘summer’ this year!

Beautiful house which was perfect for our multi generational family holiday. The living space was very flexible and gave us lots of options for eating and socialising. The location within Castle Douglas was ideal for the park for the youngest members and shops for the older members of the family. The instructions for the appliances and the shower were very detailed, which was reassuring. The kitchen was very well equipped and the children's crockery and cutlery was ideal. The garden and laundry room came in handy as well. We have already talked about rebooking for next year.
