What our customers say about their holidays

A fantastic stay - it was a week after the snow and we saw the weather warm up and watched the ice melt away.
...we felt the same.....we just melted away with the cottage !! It was lovely, a beautifully presented cottage, decorated to the highest standard. We could not fault anything. The owners were very helpful, gave us hints and tips as where to visit (as we have triplet daughters who are artists). A welcoming cake and superb coffee provided, amongst other goodies. The location is great, you are just 15 mins out of Worcester - it is a really interesting city, lots of history etc but also great for those shoppers amongst us.. (teenage daughters) We also visited some National Trust properties and took a big walk in the Malverns, but we were so keen to get back to Hillview Cottage on most days and get the fire going with tea and crumpets, that we really want to come back in the spring and especially jump into the hot-tub on the decking. The beds are super-comfy - and the wildlife is just outside your window - I'm sure they want to come inside and join you. I chatted with numerous owls; pheasants; foxes and small birds at various times of the day. A very friendly neighbourhood indeed. I waited for the elusive deer that is a local resident, but I guess he/she was away on business.A great pub is close by - The Talbot at Knightwick (it's only a 7 min walk down the hill - but almost 15 min on the way up) - the menu looks great, we didn't eat there in the end, but it looked like a superb eatery and when we return, we'll definitely try it out. They have their own micro-brewery - producing some fantastic beers such as "This"; "That" and "The Other". All very good, but my favourite was the "The Pistols at Dawn". Fantastic stuff. I did ask the lady behind the bar for a try of "The Other", I did get the threat of a friendly slap - followed by the usual laughter that goes by someone who's had the same joke pulled over 1,000 times before .As you can tell, we really enjoyed Hillview Cottage - the owners have clearly put a lot of thought and planning into this beautiful corner of England - we say well done and thanks for the stay. Hope to see you again soon. Kind and best regards Richard & Karen White (The triplets - Rachel, Rebekah & Sarah)(In-laws - well never mind - Linda & Graziano)Loved it !!!!.

What a gem!
We had a wonderful 5 days at Little Acres Cottage as a couple with three dogs. The location of the cottage is fantastic, you are very private, with plenty of distance to the very few neighbours, and yet many interesting destinations in the Cotswolds are within easy reach. It is very quiet, except at peak times in the morning and evening there are hardly any cars at all and in the cottage you can't hear them anyway. The property is huge and great for dogs. The fence is not entirely dog-proof, but we don't leave our four-legged friends outside without supervision anyway, so this wasn't a problem. We watched squirrels and buzzards on the property and saw deer in the neighbouring field from the upstairs window, it was very idyllic. The cottage itself is very comfortable and cosy and has everything you need. We were especially delighted about the great kitchen and the big bath tub and the nice living room with the big settee, fireplace and TV, perfect for chilling on a rainy day in November. There are (small) beds, bowls and treats for dogs, as well as a thick folder with activity suggestions and tips. The mudroom in the entrance area is also very practical and the stone floor on the ground floor is easy to keep clean with dogs. Unlike many other holiday homes, dogs are allowed on the upper floor, but as there is carpet, you should make sure that their paws are really clean beforehand. We carried our dogs upstairs and downstairs because there are loveley wooden stairs which were a bit too smooth for our old dogs, but that was no problem at all. We had a great time here and were even able to extend a day at the last minute as there was a small gap left after our booking. Thanks to the team at Syke Cottages and the owners for their flexibility. We can warmly recommend this cottage, especially for romantic couple holidays, dog owners or families, and would love to come back.

My friends and I stayed at this most beautiful cottage for a weekend.
We were not disappointed in the slightest. Nicola the owner has thought of absolutely everything you could ever possibly need. We were also delighted to find the little extras - fresh milk, freshly baked banana loaf and fresh flowers on the table. The cottage is very welcoming and the views are spectacular, even on the dreariest of days they don't disappoint. Then sun sets are amazing! Locally we found a lovely little pub which held a fabulous little farmers market on the Sunday. There are great hikes to. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting that little luxury when going away. The cottage is beautifully decorated, very well equipped and extremely comfortable. The free standing bath over looking spectacular views was definitely one of my highlights after a day of hiking. The kitchen is very well equipped and is in a traditional cottage style. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bedrooms were very well decorated. Which ever room you find your self siting in downstairs you'll be mesmerised by the views from the big windows and double doors which lead out on to a lovely veranda. I would not hesitate to book again and hope to return this summer for an extended stay. Thanks so much to Nicola who is a very lovely and kind host. Anything we needed to know she was more than helpful and left a welcome pack explaining everything from the Wi-Fi codes to how to work the heating to what you'll find locally. Thanks again X

We had a wonderful two-week stay at the Hillview Cottage in Knightwick.
The owner, Nicola, left us some lovely welcome treats, including homemade banana cake, a bottle of prosecco and coffee/tea supplies. Another cake (lemon!) at the start of our second week was a nice surprise! The five of us (my parents and our family of three) were very comfortable in the cottage and found it to be a great base for exploring the area, as well as entertaining our UK family and friends. The view is exceptional and there are many walks and great country pubs within a very short distance. The butcher shop at the bottom of the hill was a great find, and we called in several times for sausages, bacon and Cornish pasties. Please notice that the cottage description (correctly) lists only a washer. There is a line with clothes pegs available, as well as an indoor drying rack and electric fan. We had only a couple of rainy days, so there wasn't too much problem getting clothes dry, but if you are planning a longer stay during a rainier season, and would like to wash clothes, it is something to be aware of. All in all though, a wonderful time in a gorgeous setting!

When you walk through the big gates at the top of the property all you can say is "WOW".
The stony pathway leading down to the garden & view is amazing before you even enter the stunningly beautiful house. Once inside the big fully equipped kitchen you just know & feel you have chosen right & your instincts are not wrong, from the 3 comfortable sofas in the lounge & gorgeous bedrooms all with little personal details that truly make you feel at home. Bathrooms & showers were perfect. Everything is very clean & the lush new carpets recently fitted make it feel luxurious. The only one thing to say is that the 2nd double bedroom has a small double bed, maybe too small for 2 adults but ideal for 1. To be honest we lived mainly in the great sociable kitchen & garden even though the weather was changeable we got to see the spectacular sunsets. Pure peacefulness. The communication with Nicola is excellent, knowledgeable & very welcoming. Whoever books this little gem of a property won't go wrong, we will be back for sure! John & Nicola Owen
