  Having stayed at Upper lodge for the last seven years, March 2023 was the first time we felt the need to write a review.

  The owners apologised and asked us to give it another go. So in March 2024 we did. On arrival we found the waste bins were not emptied and were left in the main bedroom. The bathroom and en suite bins were full to the brim with the previous occupants rubbish and still in their respective rooms.After emptying the bins we could not find any replacement bin bags in the kitchen drawer at all. Once again we found dog hair on the furniture and seating area floor downstairs. The towels and quilt covers and pillowslips in both double rooms had some dubious stains on them. Some of these stains could have been from the washing machine door rubber which was disgusting and really needed cleaning,which we did before we used it..The tea towels had been washed but still looked grubby. We could not start to enjoy our stay until we had vacuumed the lodge right through with a hoover that desperately needs new floor tools and cleaning out and a new bag fitted. Upper lodge is a stunning property in a beautiful location and we understand that it is a holiday let that is in need of some TLC but it should be CLEAN! We are sorry to say that we are very disappointed as we really look forward to holidaying there.

  We've had a fantastic week in this beautiful house, thank you! There's so much to do even without having to leave wells - walking to the beach, crabbing on the harbour, wondering around the shops... Lots of great places to eat too - some how managed to get into The Globe for Sunday dinner without booking, and also enjoyed meals at The Bowling Green Inn (handily around the corner!) and the pigs in Edgefield. Enjoyed the train to Walsingham and a trip to Holkham Hall. The playground was a huge hit! Also loved ice creams from pretty much every outlet in Wells, and the playground behind. Perfect location as we've been able to walk everywhere, and so handy to have the Coop down the road. We love the house too - if you're ever thinking of selling up, let us know! we'd love to come back and hope to make a future booking - will be getting pestered by our children until we do! Thank you!   The cottage was delightful with great views of the beach and the sea. However there was no information as to how to access the beach which would have been really useful. We discovered towards the end of our holiday that there was access on to the beach south of the railway station. It is possible to access the beach by going through the caravan site across the road from the cottage but it was signed “site clientele only”. We think more information regarding beach access would have been really useful. Online info stated there would be a welcome pack on our arrival, however this constituted a packet of Welsh cakes and a small carton of milk. We don’t consider this to be a welcome pack. Either a proper welcome pack should be provided or mention of it deleted from the website. However we had a very pleasant stay overall.

  Great cottage in a brilliant location. Recently enjoyed a stay at The Constable's House. It was in a brilliant location for accessing all the local shops, galleries, cafes, pubs, entertainment, harbour, beach etc. on foot as well as not too far from other places that were well worth a visit by car.The cottage was extremely spacious, cosy, clean and well furnished and equipped with lots of interesting artwork in every room. Special mention must be made of the comfortable beds and lovely bed linen and towels. Quiet location, lovely to hear the birds singing.The welcome pack was a nice touch and the handbook provided contained so much useful information. Alpacas passing the house, being taken for walks was an unusual sight which we really enjoyed!Would highly recommend.

  The property was amazing. A traditional character cottage modernised to the highest standard - the owners are to be congratulated. There's a very neat parking space leading to the tasteful garden area with fabulous sea views, then a practical (tiled floor with underfloor heating), but welcoming entrance leading upstairs to a well laid out modern kitchen and living area with those stunning sea views. The bathroom is ultra modern - even our 2 year old grandson loved the shower and didn't miss his bath at all. If anyone is looking for a small cottage, then this must be the Best in Wales!
