Your Dream Large Cottages in Cornwall

Looking for a memorable staycation in the UK you can enjoy with friends and family? With soft sandy beaches, glorious countryside, restaurants galore and a laid-back atmosphere, Cornwall has you covered.

A holiday in Cornwall means spending quality time together visiting quaint fishing villages, trying your hand at surfing, walking across the sea to explore ancient castles, lazing on sandy beaches, gazing at rugged cliff faces and mooching around new towns making magical memories.

And if you're planning a trip or special occasion with friends or family, our hand-picked selection of big cottages in Cornwall is just the thing you need to make your trip extra special.

Why choose Cornwall?

Cornwall is one of the most popular group holiday destinations and it's very easy to see why! It's full of stunning landscapes, pretty beaches and plenty of attractions, making it the ultimate UK holiday destination to suit all kinds of getaways.

From the charming Port Isaac on the North Cornwall coast to the buzzing town of Falmouth down south, Cornwall has miles of golden beaches, incredible coastline, picture-perfect towns and villages and lots of idyllic countryside just waiting to be explored.

It's no secret that Cornwall has some of the best beaches in the UK and beyond. In Holywell Bay you'll find sandy beaches with offshore islands and epic coastline, venture to Crantock Beach to play in the high dunes and caves, or head to historic St Agnes to discover the rugged beauty of Trevaunance Cove.

Cornwall is also a fantastic destination for family attractions. Pay a visit to the famous Eden Project, hop on a steam train at Lappa Valley Steam Railway, make some new furry friends at Newquay Zoo, or spend your days wandering around dreamy seaside towns gorging on fresh fish and chips.

Food lovers will be in foodie heaven thanks to the large choice of dining Cornwall has to offer. It's not all Cornish pasties, cider and cream teas though (although you don't want to miss these!) Cornwall has become one of the UK's top food destinations and you'll be spoilt for choice with the many gastro pubs, cafes, restaurants and bistros, all perfect for dining together.

Your holiday, your way

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Caroline - Verified booking

Very comfortable well equipped property, with fabulous views.

The kitchen had great equipment for cooking, the only thing missing was some mugs to drink from. Perhaps I drink a cup of tea quicker than some people - but for me a cup is not big enough :-) We heard strange noises a couple of nights and thought someone was upstairs, but after reading the guest book we saw that someone else had worked out it was the chairs on the uneven balcony surface rocking back and forth in the wind! It honestly sounded like someone was bouncing a ball on the ceiling. It didn't keep me awake but I did wonder what it was until I read the guest book. Might be worth putting something under the chair legs to even them out, or at least warn people of this in the notes so they can move the chairs at night if it bothers them (only happens when it is windy). Some of the instructions in the folder seemed out of date - there was reference to a separate parking area which I can only imagine used to be where the next door property now sits - the description just didn't make sense - we spent quite a lot of time looking for this as we had 2 cars and the turning area in front of the property is very tight. Leaving instructions were also a bit confusing - the folder info said a padded envelope would be provided and to put this in a letterbox by the gate, but I couldn't see where that was, and the email instructions seemed to indicate the key should go back where we got it from (in the key safe), so I just did that. The hot tub was brilliant and we used it a lot - my only comment there is that it would have been nice to have a robe for everyone in the property, rather than just 4 - it is supposed to sleep 7 and we were 6 adults so all using the hot tub, and in March the robes were much appreciated for those who had them! All in all, this is a lovely property in a great location, and we would return. My comments are just small points for improvement to make it even better.

Both pros and cons to this cottage! One of the twin mattresses was awful and needs replacing immediately, it creaks and groans and you can feel every spring. It was really uncomfortable & noisy! Under the twin beds hadn’t been dusted or mopped. Pans are no longer non stick & should be replaced. Bed runners (twin) were dirty and hadn’t been cleaned between guests. Pills (twin) are flat & need replacing. Double bed was too short for a man of 6’ 2”. However, the cottage is excellently located, a 16-minute walk to Padstow town centre. It was very convenient to have parking spaces as parking in Padstow itself looks a nightmare. We had a delivery from Sainsbury but there is a Tesco up the road. Hob is induction which is far better than the electric you find in most holiday cottages! Plenty of plates & glasses etc although we had to wash them on arrival. Lots to do in Padstow, it’s a really good location for a couples or family holiday. We also did a 5km walk from the town, and walked to St George’s Cove, from the cottage. Just be warned, if you have a child, every stair & upstairs floorboard creaks; it was impossible to ‘creep’ out having got my daughter to sleep without waking her. There is a downstairs single but it’s right next to the lounge area so not great for noise, plus from a safety perspective I don’t like having a child downstairs with adults upstairs. All in all, a decent stay, but could have been so much better with a few small tweaks and a bit more care, especially considering what it cost.

"We had a wonderful time at Carbis Bay, The house was truly amazing, everything we expected and more.

The hot tub was definitely a bonus, we all enjoyed it. Fernhill Lodge was lovely and clean, very light and airy, and very well equipped, the views from the balcony were stunning. We enjoyed breakfast on the patio every morning , listening to the birds singing and taking in the lovely views across Carbis Bay. We found a lovely little pub the Cornish Arms about 10min walk from house, the food was tasty and very good value, the owners were very pleasant made us all welcome. we would recommended it highly. The local Tesco up the road was very handy for any essentials we needed. We enjoyed the lovely walk down to Carbis beach, and had a nice coffee and ice cream at the beach cafe with views to die for. The train ride into St Ives was lovely, very relaxing and again stunning views , only 4 mins journey for £1.00. In St Ives we can recommend the Alba Restaurant for something a little bit special, and the Life boat pub/restaurant for lovely food at reasonable prices. I must mention the Taxis services we used on a couple of occasions, Ace Cars in st Ives very reasonably priced, friendly. and prompt. Overall we had a wonderful holiday, and we will definitely consider staying at Fernhill Lodge again "Pure Luxury"." K. Claire

The only issue regarding the facilities is that there is only one off-road car parking, although there is street parking close-by.

We were aware of this before booking. I cannot recall if the information provided prior to arrival indicates that the front third of a building is in fact a private dwelling. We had a plumbing crisis during our stay involving water over-flowing from the main bathroom shower, passing through the bunkroom light fitting en-route to the floor below. A combination of luck and quick-thinking on our party gave us time to remove the soft furnishings and place buckets, so no long term damage. The person occupying the bunkroom for four nights had to sleep the last two on a mattress in the lounge. The owner responded well to the issue and appeared to have resolved it the following morning. Unfortunately there was a minor overflow the next day from the same shower. We reported this and we assume it was dealt with, but received no feedback. We did not use the shower again. Apart from this, we were impressed with the cleanliness, comfort and facilities of this cottage.
