Exquisite Morpeth Cottage sleeping up to 5 guests
With a tiered garden to the front and wonderful sea views, S124105 is great property for a beach holiday.
With outstanding views of the whole bay from the large window, and with a tiered garden, S124105 has been renovated to maximise the views. It has an open plan, light and airy ambience, and the views don’t get much better than this. There is a full view of ‘The Couple’, a sculpture by Sean Henry, which is a popular attraction set in the North Sea. When you sit in the terraced garden to the front in the warmer weather, you feel like you could just step out into the ocean! For chillier times of the year, S124105 has a cosy wood burner, which you can sit in front of and listen to the sea outside but still be cosy and warm inside.
The promenade in this small and friendly seaside village stretches for a mile, and its maritime centre can be found at the end with a café and a museum. The local lifeboat house is nearby, and you can watch the lifeboat out on Sundays practising in the water just outside. The Italian ice cream shop, which is an old family business, sits in the centre of the promenade and welcomes visitors. Rock pooling is a favourite with many children (and adults) when the tide is out, and the ever-changing view will delight visitors of all ages. The local bus is handy, should you wish to leave the car behind, and you can easily go to Newcastle or Morpeth for a day out.
From Newbiggin-by-the-Sea you can easily reach many destinations, and you can travel further around the coast following the Heritage Coastal Trail past Druridge Bay. From there you can head towards Amble and up to Craster and Bamburgh, where you will be spoilt for choice with the number of pretty cafés and some castles along the route. Morpeth is a pretty, historic town only 8 miles away, which has a great selection of eateries, shops and cafés. The famous Alnwick Castle is only 24 miles, where you can spend a day spotting the parts of it used in the Harry Potter films.
Don’t forget to go to Tynemouth, a little to the south, where there is a great vibe around the cafés, pubs and restaurants. With great beaches as well, it makes a great a day out. Wherever you go in Northumberland you will be greeted with a warm Northumbrian welcome as the county has once been voted the friendliest county in England. Beach 200 yards. Shop 175 yards, pub and restaurant 700 yards.
