With uninterrupted views and plenty of outdoor space, this detached cottage is an ideal location for some peace and relaxation, yet less than a mile from the historic and picture postcard village of Warkworth. Just under a mile from Warkworth Castle, it is a few minutes’ walk from the property into the pretty village centre. This comfortable holiday home with a cosy wood burner makes a great base for exploring this friendly county.
Warkworth has friendly pubs and tearooms with walks along the river, where it is not unusual to see various rare birds. Amble, which is reputedly the ‘friendliest port’, is only 2 miles away with a working harbour, marina, Sunday market, small harbour village style pods, fish and chip shops and plenty of varied amenities. Alnwick with its famous castle, featured in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, is only a few miles away, with its cobbled streets and famous water gardens, with a spectacular grand cascade and the world’s largest treehouse restaurant. Warkworth is on the main heritage coastal route in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with golden, unspoilt beaches, rugged coastline and historic castles. There is easy access inland to the Northumberland National Park, west to visit Hadrian’s Wall or north towards the Borders. Visitors often leave the car at nearby Alnmouth rail station and take the train to Edinburgh or Newcastle for a fantastic day exploring these two historic and charming cities. Beach 1¾ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
