A pretty Welsh miners cottage for 5, with a cosy open fire, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, just a short stroll from the popular village of Beddgelert and close to the footpath up Snowdon.

Swn Yr Afon (Sound of the River), is a traditional Welsh miner’s cottage, situated just outside the pretty and very popular village of Beddgelert. The location is fantastic, just a stroll away from the village, and with the mountains and rivers of the Snowdonia National Park right on your doorstep. There are lovely mountain views from the cottage or from the little decked area perched above the rear of the property. The open fire in the sitting room will be lovely to return to after a day out exploring. It is just 3 miles to the nearest footpath up Snowdon, 14 miles to Llanberis, 13 miles to Caernarfon and 8 miles to the coast at Porthmadog.

The Cottage: is a pretty terraced cottage, simply but comfortably furnished, with some bright modern touches and of course the lovely fire in the sitting area. Heating in the rest of the house is by electric heaters.

Entrance: is into the small hallway. There is no separate access to the rear of the property.

Sitting Room: has a large fireplace with an open fire, initial logs provided. There are comfortable sofas and a lovely little window seat. The flooring is practical wood style with a rug over. The owners have provided a good selection of books and games, also BT view TV which enables you to watch all the regular Freeview channels and WiFi.

Kitchen Dining Room: this is a bright room with a table and chairs for six. The simple fitted kitchen has everything you need for a comfortable stay including an integrated oven and hob with extractor fan over, a filter coffee machine and a washer/dryer. The original quarry tiled floor and painted cupboards give this room a lovely feel.

Steep wooden stairs lead up to the bedrooms.

Bedroom 1: the double bedroom has a window seat with views over to the mountains.

Bedroom 2: the twin room has two single beds and has been charmingly decorated in pretty colours. This room also has a window seat from which to admire the views.

Bedroom 3: the compact single room has an adult sized single bed and another window seat.

Bathroom:  has an electric shower over the bath, WC and basin. Heating by wall mounted fan heater.

Outside: to the front is a small paved area with a bench. To the rear and up steep wooden steps is a little decked balcony with a bench and folding chairs. There are great views from here. Off loading can be done at the front of the property then parking is in the spacious lay by just a few yards down the road.

The village of Beddgelert is perhaps best known for Gelerts grave and the legend of Gelert the dog. Superb walks can be taken along the charming river to visit this. There are a good selection of cafes and shops, restaurants and pubs, including a very popular restaurant Hebog (book early for this one) and an award-winning ice cream parlour and pizza parlour. In the other direction, a couple of miles up the road, is one of the paths up Snowdon and the great Caffi Gwynant. You really are spoilt for choice here! There are also some fantastic attractions close by such as Sygun Copper Mine, where you can take underground tours, and the Welsh Highland Railway where you can take a train to Caernarfon or the beaches near Porthmadog. All this plus the stunning natural landscape of Snowdonia, with so many possibilities for walking, biking, climbing, or for the very brave wild swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the rivers and lakes.
