  Fabulous stay at Oak Tree Barn for myself, my partner, sister-in-law and sprocker spaniel.

  The Barn was immaculately clean, well equipped and very welcoming and we were very thankful for the ceiling fans in the bedrooms on the unexpected hottest week of the year. The garden was perfectly secure without us having to worry about our dog escaping although we did have to watch him with the hedgehogs he found. We had 2 cars in our party and both were easily accommodated off road in front of the garages to the property as described. The owners were wonderful in communicating and ensuring we had all we needed and going above and beyond with the extra welcoming touches which were very much appreciated. The property is perfectly located a short walk from the centre of the village where there are some good pubs and other eateries (we enjoyed The Buck Inn dog friendly and the fish and chip shop twice as we hadn’t realised that food serving stopped so early in the evenings so did get caught out a bit). The village itself is a good base for those who want to head out to visit the towns/city, experience the outdoors/ beach/sea or not do much at all and just stay local and enjoy some peace and quiet and the scenery so a good mix for all. Nothing I would change about the Barn or the holiday. Hope to come back soon. Thank you for our well needed stay.

  Really enjoyed our break - 4 adults and two grandchildren.

  Quite a few issues when we arrived, light bulb missing in the bedroom bedside lamp, no plug in ensuite bathtub, door didn't stay closed in bedroom, tumble dryer tripped out the electrics, downstairs shower temperature couldn't be adjusted. The owners happily came to inspect and some of the issues were rectified. We were also surprised we didn't receive a welcome pack as this is usual in all sykes cottages we have previously stayed in, however the owners did provide a dozen eggs at no charge. As we were leaving we had to retrieve a toy from behind a sofa, It was very dusty and didn't appear to have had a deep clean for a while. Mr and Mrs Evans were very friendly and were helpful with advice on where we should visit. The grandchildren loved their stay and thanks to Mr Evans for allowing our eldest grandchild to sit in his tractor and explore the farm.We had the pleasure of seeing one day old piglets, great base to stay for exploring the area around Cardigan and further afield.

  Oak Tree Barn was absolutely lovely, not only is it in a great location it is a great place to stay.

  Our first impression of “this is fantastic” stayed with us throughout. From the well stocked kitchen to the wonderful cosy living room and comfortable very clean bedrooms. This really is a home from home. We were welcomed with a lovely gift hamper that was quite personal. Chris the owner obviously checks who will be staying for the week. We even had welcome text upon arrival. It is the little touches that make a difference. I can also see in colder weather the house would be very warm, with lots of heating and a wood fire stove in the sunroom. As stated this location is perfect to explore the Yorkshire Moors and beyond. Thornton le Dale has great amenities which is a very easy walk. With larger places such as Pickering and Malton a short drive. We have every intention of returning.

  The Nest is a charming, thatched 2 bedroom cottage within walking distance of Lyme Regis’ seafront, shops and restaurants.

  Both living rooms and bedrooms were comfortable and the heating was effective and easy to use. The garden was a lovely surprise, providing a peaceful space to enjoy the (little) sunshine we had on our stay whilst admiring the views of the cliffs on the Jurassic coast. The kitchen is a little small and some of the equipment old (there isn’t much nonstick surface left on the frying pan) but as the restaurants nearby are great this wasn’t too much of a problem. The ‘worst’ thing was the WiFi. Having stayed in old cottages before we expected it to be problematic but even having managed our expectations it was disappointing as we could only really have one device on WiFi at a time and even then it was slow and temperamental. Definitely not a place to stay if you need good connectivity.
