  At first sight the property creates a good impression.

  It is well decorated and very clean although there was a strong smell of dog in the lounge which we found to be very unpleasant. Unfortunately the cottage is completely unsuitable for elderly visitors and I will explain why I have arrived at this conclusion. The sofa is unusable as it is too low and has no back support. My wife was unable to extricate herself from its grip without assistance from me. The only practical solution was to move the dining room chairs into the lounge but they are uncomfortable when used for extended periods. While on the subject of the lounge there is a very serious trip hazard in that the broadband hub and trailing wires are located in a narrow corridor between the sofa and the wall. Also the television is far too large for the size of the lounge to the point where it is impossible to view the whole image. With regard to equipment there is no non-slip mat for the bath/shower which made using the shower very dangerous with a high risk of slipping. Also there is no shaver/toothbrush charging point in the bathroom and we were unable to find an adapter plug so we had to buy one. In conclusion our stay was very uncomfortable and we would not stay here again

  Had a lovely break.

  The cottage is a good standard with a lovely kitchen and bathroom by our standards. TV in two of the three bedrooms (kids rooms) with Sky TV was nice unexpected addition and served us well. Its a very peaceful location which is great for the adults but a little TV time for the kids was useful. We never used the log fire due to the time of year but it would be very cosy during a winter break. The local pub is walking distance and the staff were extremely welcoming and polite. Very attentive to our needs and the burgers were gorgeous. The cottage owner sent us a nice message during our stay to enquire that everything was in order and to contact her if we needed anything. Another nice touch in my opinion. If you are looking for a quiet getaway which is a good standard home from home then I highly recommend.

  The house is amazing and we can see how the owner has refurbished it with cate snd attention to detail .

  The pictures do not do the house justice the view of harbour’s coming and going is an all day experience. The ability to swim every morning in sea walk two minutes back fir breakfast is amazing ! In covid times and staff shortages I understand that deep cleaning in short turnaround times is hard I would like to have had cleaning products at the house as we did have to go over the surfaces particularly hand rail of stair case several times to remove grime build up . We also had shoes off at door so a basket or storage box at front door would have been useful . An amazing stay and family get together certainly love to go back a house that is a home excuses joy and calm . Thank you Angelina

  Golden Lion Barn was a great place for a family stay. The property was very comfortable and well equipped, and is only 20 minutes from Wells Next The Sea and Holkham. Despite the weather in March being quite cold, the house was always a comfortable temperature. The enclosed back garden is perfect if you're staying with a dog, and the entrance to the front is also enclosed. The kitchen had everything needed, and there is plenty of space for preparing meals. The original roof timbers add great character to the property, and the tallest member of our party only bumped his head once! :) There are supermarkets that are 15 minutes away, which is also very handy.

  Beautiful property in an amazing tranquil location. The property has everything you could need and was like stepping back in time! The kids loved having an open fire every evening…. Very quirky, uneven floors everywhere but a lot of love and history in the building. Great walks on the doorstep…our goldies had an amazing time exploring and not far in the car to great beaches if you don’t want to walk along the river. Some fantastic local pubs within half hour walk as well! Super comfy beds and the owner was so lovely when the range in the kitchen stopped working (it did not affect our stay but I would have loved to have done more cooking on it!)
