What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Smith - Verified booking
Seahorses is well located on the outskirts of Fowey, on a very quiet road. Being just a short 10 minute walk downhill into the center means the house also has plentiful parking and no need to navigate the narrow streets. We were warmly greeted with a little gift which set the tone well. The house was warm at all times, clean with all the amenities we could ask for and more. It was a pleasure to use the kitchen to cook for family meals and the living space with seating, dining and kitchen allowed the family to all be together. The living space was light and bright with views on to the back garden. Beds were all comfy, with towels provided. As a request, for future stays, it might be helpful to just have an extra hand towel in each of the bathrooms as there were only our shower towels. Very picky, but could make life slightly easier. There is a shop just a 2 minute walk along the road that is open most of the week until 6. Well-stocked with essentials as well as some butcher meat too. Nearest supermarket was St Austell, 15 minute drive away. We were well within reach of many places including Eden Project. We ventured a little further to Looe but you really don't need to. Great walks from the house itself. The loop across to Polruan and Bodinnick is worth a mention, as is the walk along to Gribbin Head. Communication prior to our stay was great. Frequent emails regarding key safe, directions and check in times. Kudos, the property was ready early and we were told we could arrive early but by the time we received the message, it was too late for us to head down to Cornwall to benefit. Perhaps more ideal if you live closer. We wouldn't hesitate staying again! The only niggles we had, and we appreciate this is not necessarily a reflection on the owners of Seahorses... 1) A 9am departure, whilst also being asked to strip the beds and empty all the bins, is quite tight in terms of turnaround times. Any other holiday lets we have had in the past year, who have asked us to do these things, checkout has generally been 10am - affording us that extra time. It just meant the final morning wasn't relaxing which was a shame. I think if departure is 9am, then perhaps they need to review what they're asking guests to do. 2) A security deposit of £250 is a lot of money to 'shell out' when there seems no immediacy for its return other than a message from Cornish Horizons stating 'We'll be in touch soon'. Whilst I appreciate the need for the property to be protected against damage, I do wonder if there is another way of being able to retrieve money should the property be left in an unacceptable state that doesn't inconvenience the majority of guests.

Poor kitchen equipment for cooking, lack of decent glasses. No actual wine glasses they were plastic. The tumblers were chipped. No Sonos speakers as in description. So no personal music could be played. The entrance door to roof top was stiff and subsequently cut hand, the floor was filthy and slippery to the stairs of the rooftop. The karcher should have been put away. The welcome book was not easily found, the information on rubbish and recycling was not clear. Disappointing that no equipment was in the upstairs kitchen so has to split what little was available downstairs. The freezer in the utility room couldn’t open properly due to the toilet so it wasn’t very clean inside and the door sharp where it was broken previously where I’m imagine people were trying to put things in there. Finally the flooring by the sink in the downstairs kitchen is a trip hazard and numerous times there were accidents where the flooring had lifted. The tap in kitchen is broken. And also we had the plumber out to fix the bath tap as it had broken.

What a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Seahorses! We were a family of 4 and a dog. The house is really bright, airy and very spacious! All the bedrooms were well equipped with extremely comfortable beds. Lots of wardrobe or drawer space to unpack which is always nice. The children loved having their own rooms. The view from the main bedroom was stunning! We really enjoyed the decking area and were lucky to have had a week of sunshine to make the most of it. The garden is small but filled with beautiful planting. It's nice and secure if you have a dog. We also made use of the BBQ a couple of evenings. Its in a very quiet road and a there's off street parking for 2 cars. A pleasant 10 minute stroll downhill takes you to the river front with all the gorgeous shops and eateries in Fowey. Walking back uphill was harder but it was good to walk off dinner and a Ruby's ice cream. There was a little playground opposite the house which was handy. We felt a week wasn't enough and would love to return :-) Thank you Seahorses!

A wonderful home which is beautifully furnished with high end products/equipment. It is 'home from home' and to have a comfortable bed to sleep in makes a perfect holiday. It was fantastic to have an enclosed garden which really was dog escape proof. This is always a big consideration for us when booking a property and was so reassuring when we arrived to find a worry-free garden. I cannot recommend Seahorses highly enough. The location of Seahorses for walkers and dog walkers is superb with plenty of coastal walks and dog friendly beaches to explore. Restaurants in Fowey are plenty and good quality. The takeaway Fish and Chip shop is highly recommended. Fowey has lovely gift shops, bakeries, the aquarium, coffee shops and clothing shops.

Lovely cottage and so handy for the lovely pubs, shops and restaurants. The garden is gorgeous, having a lovely sitting area. Also, 15 minute walk to Readymoney, which our dog loved and great that dogs are allowed up to July 1st. She spent hours swimming. First floor bedroom is very comfortable and bathroom great. Kitchen has everything you need, with a great TV also. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, just a pull up the hill to car park, which was hard going. Encouraged us to stay in Fowey, just having one drive out to Mevagissey. Fowey is our favourite UK holiday destination and made perfect by the lovely weather we had. We’ll be back!
