  Our stay at Winder Green was a last minute arrangement, due to our booking at a different property being cancelled less than 24 hours before arrival.

  Sykes offered us Winder Green based on the location of our previous property and party size (including a dog). Despite our initial disappointment at the last minute change, we had a fantastic Easter weekend at Winder Green. Ged and Julie went above and beyond to turn the property around for our stay and we really appreciated them reaching out to us directly to welcome us, with additional resources to enhance our stay. The children (& grown ups) were very touched to be greeted with an Easter egg for each child. The property was warm, clean and comfortable. We only gave a 4 for comfort due to the smaller double bed. The kitchen was well equipped and we were treated to a lovely box of biscuits, milk and tea/coffee provisions. What was really special about our stay was the views and the immediate surroundings. The children loved watching the red squirrels, pheasants and rabbits and you could easily loose a few hours peacefully enjoying the outdoor sitting area. You truly feel like you’re miles from anywhere and the absence of light pollution too made it a great location for star gazing. We spent time adventuring on the fells and the proximity to Pooley Bridge made walks accessible. The steamer was a highlight for the kids. The laundry and boot room were very much welcomed. We would definitely return - there is so much more to explore in the area.

  We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this charming cottage during Christmas time!

  The place is stunning—spacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable, making it the perfect retreat for a festive getaway. The Christmas trees was a lovely touch, adding to the warm and cozy ambiance of the cottage. Everything in the cottage seemed brand new, and the quality of the furnishings and decor was top-notch. The owner was exceptionally responsive, always quick to address any questions or needs we had, ensuring that our stay went smoothly. It truly felt like a home away from home, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend the holiday season. We will definitely be returning in the future! Highly recommend!

  A wonderful stay at Winder Green!

  We booked in for a bank holiday walkong weekend and were not disappointed. Great communication from Ged and Julie beforehand and throughout which was most welcome. We really enjoyed our stay there. The beds were comfy, there was plenty of indoor and outdoor space, a well equipped kitchen and fantastic views from the door- including red squirrels! The location was fab- 8(ish) mins to Pooley Bridge in a car so great for exploring Ullswater or further afield. We would highly recommend and are already planning on booking again! Thank you!

  An excellent and spacious cottage, very well-equipped, with lovely views and grounds, and red squirrels!

  We would consider going there again. Some of the central heating radiators did not work, so the house was cold until the extra electric radiators and wood/LPG fires got the temperature up. It was much better after a coupIe of days. The owners are investigating the problem. Small suggestion: put mats by the front door for wiping feet before going into the house.

  Had the most amazing stay at High Winder House.

  The house is really beautiful, clean and well equipped. Pool table was a bonus for family pool nights. Lots of walks right on your doorstep with amazing views over Ullswater. Owner was really helpful prior to and during our stay. Would highly recommend.
