Holiday Cottages In Grizedale

The stunning hamlet of Grizedale can be found nestled within the Lake District. This National Park has recently been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status, and it is one of the most loved National Parks in the UK. Grizedale is a picturesque place to enjoy a cottage holiday and explore this wonderful place.

Don't let the small size of Grizedale put you off, there is more than enough to do in the area around this charming hamlet. Ideally situated between the famous lakes of Windermere and Coniston Water so you can indulge in a range of watersports from canoeing and kayaking to swimming. Back on dry land you can make the most of the walking routes or venture up into the treetops with Go Ape. There's some excellent mountain biking on offer here too if you'd rather explore on two wheels.

Bobbin Beck is a delightful cottage in the stunning and secluded area of Rusland in south Lakes.

It’s nestled in a small cluster of houses on the side of Forge Force, which once powered the small mills making bobbins and other things. An intensely green and wooded valley, alive with birds, and almost no passing traffic as it’s tucked away between the two Great Lakes of Coniston and Windermere and their busier roads. There are gorgeous short walks from the door - through woods, beautiful meadows, along streams and across fords - or up onto the open fells (350m so well within range of most walkers) for stunning views across the whole area. It’s a short walk (15 Mins) to the lovely Eagles Head pub at Satterthwaite (no need to get in the car). The bird song here is wonderful to hear - and unusual for the Lakes - as this is one of the most densely wooded parts of England. Once you come to this hidden gem, you will want to return! The cottage itself is brilliant - slightly bigger than photos suggest: - a well-sized kitchen / dining room with lovely big wooden table and all the kitchen utensils you need - opening on to the delightful little garden via a stable door and porch - with plenty of space for walking boots and wet gear (and a small radiator to make sure they’re dry in the morning). We liked to open the top part of the stable door to hear the birds and river outside - a cosy living room with excellent wood burner and two sofas and armchair and a selection of games and books - upstairs 3 bedrooms including one en-suite double and one twin, both with beautiful views looking out over the garden, trees and river. The twin and single room both larger size single beds not the very narrow ones - all the bedding is good quality - the main bathroom has a lovely big bath and a separate shower which is always nice to have the choice - there is also a small utility room at the rear for extra clobber, with boiler and instructions for heating though all the auto settings work just fine - the cottage seemed very clean and very well kept is warm with good double glazing We would have appreciated a bin bag or two beyond the one in the bin but perhaps that was an oversight (we left a couple behind for the next guests). One extra light in the living room would be appreciated (behind the smaller sofa).

The cottage is beautiful and the location is equally as wonderful!

We had an amazing Christmas, right on grizedale for the bikes and the local pub is superb! We had an issue with the toilet there which was reported and fixed within a matter of hours so the after service is spot on! I agree with some comments that the sofas are a little past their use by date but it didn’t cause problems, beds were super comfy! Haven’t slept that well in a long time! Overall cleanliness is ok but could probably do with a deep clean to get to the bits the regular cleaning cannot cover in a quick clean but again, it wasn’t an issue as the usual areas were all fine. The main bathroom does have an issue under the floorboards by the toilet, either a leak or too much condensation but the floor is saturated and you get wet feet when you walk on it! Regarding the neighbour ….. don’t be put off, maybe could be a little more understanding but equally I wasn’t on holiday to see the neighbour so didn’t really matter Overall a lovely place to spend Christmas, the decorations and tree were a nice touch too!

This is a very nice cottage, and we enjoyed our stay.

There were wild birds in the garden, deer in the woods opposite and a heron fished in the beck. Lovely, but a little too far off the beaten track for us. It’s a winding, narrow six-mile drive to the nearest shop. We were a little concerned that the central heating had not been switched on prior to our arrival and this made the bedrooms very cold on our first night. However, once this was rectified, the cottage warmed up quickly and was very comfortable thereafter. The beck is delightful but the drop into it from the garden is quite steep in places and our dog had to be carefully supervised after a fall. Although it is cited in the cottage description as a 'babbling brook', we discovered that the beck can turn into a raging torrent after 12 hours of heavy Lake District rain. Even adults need to be careful when this is the case. All in all, a lovely place to stay.

We arrived after Storm Arwen and had no electricity for 4 days.

We alerted Sykes to the situation at day 2 and 4. Although we were offered an alternative property on day 4 we decided to stay and not have the hassle of booking and paying for another cottage and getting a refund on the rest of our stay at Bobbin Beck. We had 1 functional log burner which kept us warm and allowed us to cook (kitchen log burner not drawing for some reason). We had our own head torches. Ones at the cottage had low / no batteries. Despite this the cottage was very comfortable and well equipped and we enjoyed our stay. The owner kindly agreed to reimburse us for extra fuel used for log burner. Neighbour also very friendly and helpful. Great walks from the cottage, really lovely stay. Would definitely visit again

    This property was absolutely wonderful.

The position is lovely, with a babbling brook right outside the front door. Everything was exactly as described. If I had to look for issues it would be that it is hard to find, but that’s largely a Google issue, there is a little damp in the kitchen from the back wall (which is underground so not surprising) and the property could benefit from water pumps for the showers, as they are a little weak. Also, we would have paid a little extra to have a supply of logs and coal for the two wood burners. We never quite got around to finding our own. All that apart, the property provided us with an absolutely wonderful stay on a gorgeous cottage, which I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone. And the neighbours were lovely!
