,Although one of the lesser known Yorkshire Dales, Dentdale is somewhat of a hidden gem. Walking the cobbled streets and seeing the white-washed stone cottages gives a glimpse into life of years gone-by. The Dent Heritage Centre is a popular stop-off point for walkers offering a slice of history served with coffee and cake. The River Dee flows along the bottom of the village striking out towards the town of Sedbergh approx. 4 miles away. There are ample country lanes to entice avid cyclists and there are many country side walks around the village to satisfy both moderate and and more experienced walkers alike. Approx. 3 miles from Dent Village and sitting atop of the Dale is Dent Station. Forming part of the historic Settle to Carlisle Railway this is the highest mainline station in the UK and provides beautiful views over the valley. A short train ride will take you to Ribblehead Station offering views of the famous Ribblehead Viaduct and access to Whernside. This offers an opportunity to take on the 3 Yorkshire Peaks of Whernside, Pen-y-Ghent and Ingleborough. Additionally, Kendal is approx. 30 Minutes by car if a day out to the Lake District takes your fancy.
