Burnside Cottage in Keswick is highly praised for its comfort, excellent location, and well-equipped facilities. Guests appreciate the property's character, proximity to local amenities, and the ability to start walks right from the front door. The garden is a highlight for relaxation. Some cleanliness issues were noted, but these do not overshadow the overall positive experience.
Guests have found the cottage to be generally clean on the surface but have noted areas that require more thorough cleaning, such as shelves, drawers, and corners. Despite these comments, the overall experience remains largely unaffected.
The location is consistently praised for its quiet setting within the village, close proximity to shops, pubs, and walking trails. The views and ease of access to the fells make it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District.
The cottage is described as comfortable and spacious, with a warm atmosphere and a private garden that adds to the comfort. The property is well-equipped to accommodate guests' needs, contributing to a homely stay.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with the cottage being well-equipped and thoughtfully presented. However, there were minor issues such as limited space for provisions and a non-working television, which slightly impacted the overall satisfaction.
While guests have noted the cottage's well-equipped nature and the thought that has gone into anticipating their needs, there is no mention of gifts or special touches that would fall under this category. Therefore, a score cannot be provided.

It is in a lovely location very close to the centre of the village. It is a beautiful looking cottage with a quirky and interesting layout. We especially liked the Caracole staircase and utility room. The cottage is well appointed and comfortable. The utility room is a real boon for coming and going. The downstairs shower is excellent though we did have to replace a broken bulb and clean the lampshade as it was very gloomy in there when we arrived. The master bedroom is roomy and light, and the double bed is comfortable though given the space available, a larger bed would have been nicer. We didn't use the lounge much but there were plenty of chairs, tables and lights though one was wobbly. The kitchen worked well with a dual-fuel cooker and dishwasher. A fridge in the kitchen plus a second with the freezer in the utility room was a bonus. We appreciated being able to set the weekâs heating schedule as many properties with Hive these days donât allow you to do this. The cottage garden is beautiful, we loved sitting by Coledale Beck for our lunch and to relax in the afternoons after our long walks in the mornings. The old mill stream running across the garden was a nice surprise. The outdoor table and chairs were really useful as was the summer house when it got a bit chilly. There were a few niggles which if addressed would improve the cottage: 1) No washing up bowl that we could find anywhere - this was quite annoying. 2) No flow straighteners in the kitchen taps - the water runs back along the underside of the taps. 3) A short bath. 4) The OK button on the TV remote barely works making the remote hard to use. 5) A chair in the master bedroom would be useful as the dressing-table mirror is low. 6) Thanks for the âwelcome packâ bottle of wine but milk, a few teabags and perhaps a packet of biscuits would be more useful after a long journey. 7) The shortest dishwasher cycle was 2.5 hours but unusually you are required to empty it before leaving. This means putting your final breakfast wash on no later than 7:20am. To wash by hand would be less hygienic for the next guests. None of these niggles would prevent us from booking again in the future.

There are plenty of walks from the cottage door and the village is very friendly with a useful shop.

The table in the kitchen is very hard to clean because of the crevices, breadcrumbs sticks in it. Overall it is a very comfortable house.
