About this property

Savour a sumptuous stay in the seaside Yorkshire town of Whitby when you and your friends or family book this stylish cottage. Sleeping six guests, the traditional, three-bedroom property was once home to a mariner but has now been exquisitely upgraded to offer a beautiful blend of contemporary comfort and original charm. Just 350 metres from the sandy beach and 0.5 miles from the famous abbey ruins, the three-storey cottage is also well positioned for getting out and about in the North York Moors.

Wander inside the colourful cottage to find enticing accommodation with a reverse-level design and refined coastal theme. At ground-floor level, a twin bedroom and a double each have a Smart TV for those slow holiday mornings and there is access to a family shower room and separate WC. The first floor is home to the open-plan, white-washed beamed lounge/kitchen/diner where you can gather to prepare the freshly landed fish, lobster or crab you have bought in Whitby, before dining at the table and settling down to watch a film on yet another Smart TV. The modern-style wood burner can be lit in the colder months to throw a cosy glow out into the welcoming space. A king-size bedroom, which looks out towards the harbour and has an en-suite bathroom and Smart TV, is on the second floor of the retreat. Have breakfast out on the patio to the front of the cottage on warm days and sit out here with a bottle of wine in the evening.

Lace up your walking boots and follow a section of the Cleveland Way along the coast. Try the 7-mile stretch to picture-postcard Robin Hood’s Bay. Experience the dramatic coastline from the water instead, looking out for seals and other wildlife, when you book a sea cruise from Whitby Harbour.

This house was perfect, beautiful and full of character and the location was great, would definitely recommend.

Whilst the position is very good, overall the house was disappointing. There is no table room for 6 people, and the sofas are past their best. The TV cannot be viewed from all the chairs. The down stairs shower room was in our opinion dangerously hot as the temperature control made no difference and you had to turn it off to cool down before continuing. It is also difficult to get into and so small you can barely move. The house heating control is difficult to use as it 'learns' but it generally doeswhat it wants rather than what you want. Instructions regarding waste collection need improving. It wasnt the best weeks holiday and we wont be using the house again.
